I’ll say it again…Should have sent him. 9-6
April 1, 2025 at 9:52 pm #278573No fun in extras.
April 1, 2025 at 10:17 pm #278576I understand the intent of the Manfred man, but man I hate that Manfred Man at times. It changes the dynamic of extras so much. There is a certain point either take the tie or do the Manfred Man scenario, but doing it in the 10th seems too drastic.
April 1, 2025 at 10:18 pm #278577I didn’t see the first few innings, but Libby looked fairly good to me from the 4th-6th innings. He pitched very efficiently and was attacking the strike zone.
April 1, 2025 at 10:21 pm #278578Although it fell apart in extras I am happy with how the younger guys are doing these first few games. And the starters.
I guess the crowd was kinda skinny tonight.
April 1, 2025 at 10:34 pm #278579The fairy tale make believe baserunner in extras is the singlemost silliest and inane idea that I’ve ever been subjected to in the minute or two that I’ve been following Big League baseball. It’s not at all unlike some of the ad hoc makeup rules we’d hurriedly formulate when we were kids designed to finish playing a round of Indian ball before the sun set and it got dark during a late June or July evening. It ruins the entire concept of extra innings in the game of baseball and the people who are responsible for conjuring up the idea should be placed on trial for crimes against baseball humanity…
April 1, 2025 at 10:39 pm #278580Tonight’s paid attendance…21,306. Hard to tell what the actual gate was.
April 1, 2025 at 11:11 pm #278581According to the box scores, attendance for the the first 5 home games of this season totals 146.912 as compared to 188,516 for the first 5 home games in ’24. That’s a simple difference of a little over 41,000 fans. That’s a lot of money when you figure about $2.50 a ticket…

Someone has to pay for all those extra innings pitched. If you have a better idea on how to reduce the number games lasting longer than 10 or 11 innings, feel free to present it.
Part of they got right. The ghost runner doesn’t count as an earned run, if he scores.
Strange that two straight relievers let three runs in, two earned, each. Not good baseball.

jj-cf-stlParticipantThe lineup has a 17/20 BB/K (164 PA’s) if you exclude Winn and Herrera’s 3/17 BB/K. Some good plate discipline and contact to date.
April 2, 2025 at 9:11 am #278592This will probably be a growing pains year in a lot of ways. Think the 2015 Cubs. They started out pretty rough with a lot of ups and downs but after the ASG you could see them coming like a freight train.
Maybe that’s the type of fun ride we are about to go on.
April 2, 2025 at 9:48 am #278594According to the box scores, attendance for the the first 5 home games of this season totals 146.912 as compared to 188,516 for the first 5 home games in ’24.
After the first two games, the Cardinals were averaging 39,000+ per game, after five games it is down to 29,000+.
They are currently on pace to draw just shy of 2.4 million. So, they might only lose 400,000 ticket sales from last year. This front office probably considers that a success.
