Well, it’s our old nemesis in Kyle Hendricks and his 88mph fastball.

If we don’t win this one our season is doomed.

And I still say if Donovan would have been playing IN last night the grounder to him would have resulted in a force at home. Why he was playing back is beyond me. Nice job Marmol.

Contreras and Winn are a combined 0-32 at the plate. Ouch!

Meanwhile, Goldschmidt has a 1.250 OPS.

Maybe we need to get Contreras and Winn some torpedo bats.

Don’t you have to make some sort of contact with one of those fancy torpedo bats in order for them to work? Those two have been victimized by the K a combined 15 times.

Rats, he was playing back because a double play would have ended the inning. But the ball hit to him was a lightly hit chopper. His only play was to first. Had he been playing in of course, he could have come home with it. But the double play was the best possible outcome.

The rotation, which I had guessed would be the weakest link of this season’s Redbird edition, has thus far worked a shade over 21 IP’ed and has only surrendered 7 ER’s. That’s not at all too shabby. Hopefully the young lefty can work a nice turn in tonight’s game. If he doesn’t, I expect Matz to be given serious consideration as a LH’ed member of the 5 man based on his encouraging 4 innings of relief work in which he earned the first save of his 10 year career vs. the Twins.

“Halfway” is intended to prepare for both scenarios.

If Arenado hadn’t mishandled that ball when he tried to throw it in the 10th, this game would have gone on for another inning at least. Sometimes stuff just happens.

Tonight he needs to hit at least one HR and one extra base hit, plus be start at least two double plays in order to make up for it.

We lost a hoe game in extras last night, which is a feat in itself, and outhit the Halos 11-4. Things just did not work out.

To get to the important things though, catching up on din-din it was a delicious homemade tortilla soup last night. Today is the Lovely Lady Bike’s birthday (no foolin’), and she wanted Noodles & Co. She got the (Ty) Cobb salad, which I am having about a third of, and cheesy garlic bread. I am having the Buffalo Chicken Ranch Mac & Cheese.

If Gorman keeps hitting like this I need to change my personal nickname for him from “NoGo” to the the “Go-man”.

Walker with a big two strike hit. 1-0 in favor of the team in red – er, Albert Pujols’ former team, er make that, the home team.

Whoa, what happened? Went to clean up the dishes and checked in and it is 3-1 Angels??

Angels can’t get off to a 4-1 start can they?

With 2 outs 4 consecutive Angel hits put the Redbirds in a 3-1 hole.

Man, again Winn lunges at a pitch way outside and down. You just can’t do anything with those pitches. Need to have some discipline.

Walker is looking better though. Really most of these young guys look pretty good – Herrera, Baker (limited ABs), Gorman, Scott, Pa-hez – really good to see.

It doesn’t seem cold enough for Winn and Arenado to need those neck gaiters

Yes, it was, but off the bat I thought it was a possible game ending 4-6-3.

Lousy throw from RF. Should have sent him.
