Fedde with no walks and 8 IP so far. Will they let him finish? It’s good to save the pen with starts like this.

Looks like a good night for the Redbirds. Are they wearing those cool navy blue hats?

We started getting some Home Chef meals and are having those a couple nights a week to broaden our palate some. Tonight was “Sailor Man’s Favorite Steak.” Basically seasoned round steaks with a creamy spinich sauce, and seasoned potatoes. We also added a tossed salad to the fare. Really good!

A complete game shutout from Fedde so I am guessing his stuff was playing well tonight with more command. That is quite unexpected from him given his command issues this year. Great job and now a 5 game win streak. The pitching has been fantastic and the offense doing well.

Fedde dropped his ERA almost a full run tonight. 4.74 down to 3.88

Pages doubled and had two walks. And he caught a complete game shutout.

Without looking I’m going to guess that the last Cardinal to work a CG shutout was Wainwright? In any case, those are almost as rare as a no hitter these days.

Edit; Nope, I was wrong. Jordan Montgomery worked a CG shutout in August of ’22. It was a 1-0 final against the Cubbies at Wrigley. I now recall watching that game.

Jordan Montgomery had the last complete game shutout in 2022. I would have guessed Waino or Flaherty perhaps in 2019.

Turns out that Waino had one in 2021 and Mikolas had one in 2019 and 2018 each.

Yeah, card25. A little more pressure on Montgomery to make a pitch in that 1-0 final.

That’s 6 consecutive W’s which is getting a bit closer to a genuine winning streak of 10 or more in a row…It gets even better…The Cubs lose to the Mets by a final score of 7-2 in NY. The Redbirds are now all alone in 2nd place in the NLC at 2 games back and 1 game over even. Keep this train rolling. It ain’t a first rate streak until it’s double digits…

Watching the game on Apple TV they kept showing Fedde in the dugout while the Cardinals batted in the 8th and 9th. I’ve never seen a player so amped up and nervous at the same time. You could tell he wanted the complete game bad. Announcer stated it was his first complete game as a professional.

Holy Cow! I say again, Holy Cow! The wondrous things that happen when I’m asleep. I have a tough decision to make this morning, watch our birds perform a mini-miracle on replay, or do my French taxes. Yeah right!

I just watched the replay of last night’s game and, as Jackie Gleason used to say, “How sweet it is.”

Remember when a complete game was not an unusual occurrence? Not an every-day thing to be sure, but certainly not some sort of super-human production. Still, I couldn’t help being stunned when the announcers said it was the first complete game for the Cardinals since 2022!

Another thing that struck me was Walker’s look at the plate. He was like a deer caught in the headlights. Perhaps that’s just his natural look and I’m misreading it but he seems to be in a state of shock at the plate. How long are we going to keep running him up there to flail away?

Nonetheless, it was a feel-good game and I’m ready to stay up for tonight’s effort.

    Rah Cardinals!

Great work by Fedde, Pages and the D. I am surprised they let him go 109 pitches.

    Bling,

Fedde likely doesn’t figure into any future plans – if his arm falls off so be it, lol.

It would be, “Sorry about that Fedde, somebody call McGreevy.”

fedde is an ex-Nat so he may have been a little extra amped up to shut down his old team. Good job!
