At 30 years of age, O’Brien may have run out of chances. He may soon have to find some other way to make a living. With a name like Riley O’Brien, he could probably do okay if he were to open up an Irish themed tavern.
May 1, 2025 at 6:02 pm #280846I’m still seeing the 0-2 slider that O’Brien offered up to Steers. That pitch was unquestionably the worst that I’ve seen leave the hand of a Big League pitcher in quite some time. I mean, that thing was tender and juicy.
May 1, 2025 at 9:06 pm #280854There is probably a good reason we got him for nothing.
May 1, 2025 at 10:37 pm #280859I saw an article in a Dodger themed media outlet that gleefully boasted that the Dodgers got Edman without having to give up as much as a parking space. Sometimes blind luck intercedes and the tooth fairy really does exist in the form of Johnny.
May 2, 2025 at 4:10 am #280862Tommy Edman was useless here. We had Brendan and use those trades to get Fedde and Pham. Which was a half ass excuse to contend.
Seriously get bent of that wasn’t a good trade considering he played zero games before he showed in LA. We had another player with a skill set
May 2, 2025 at 10:25 am #280871I know it’s only what they like to term a “sample size” but Edman played 596 games before he showed up in LA. Insofar as another player with a skillset, we need more players like Fedde, Pham and Manny Motter…

jj-cf-stlParticipantIt’s easier to count the players on our roster that Edman couldn’t bench. Uncle Mike (Schildt) knew immediately to play him.
May 2, 2025 at 1:59 pm #280878And not only does Eddie have a pretty decent “skillset” but he also comes with an invaluable intangible. It wasn’t at all too difficult to immediately discern that Tommy Edman’s a genuine winner. You could see it right away. He displayed that intangible quality as a Cardinal and he’s really displaying it as a Dodger. And he’ll carry that intangible quality with him and continue be a winner wherever he plays.
May 2, 2025 at 4:32 pm #280884Mo forgot that a team needs a center fielder.
May 2, 2025 at 4:44 pm #280885I’d take Edman back any time. We’ve got plenty of useless players to exchange for him.
May 2, 2025 at 6:15 pm #280889He’s too pricey…
May 2, 2025 at 6:42 pm #280890The Edman trade did not concern me too much as he had not played, and there was some concern as to whether he would ever fully recover from the wrist injury. Getting a starting pitcher and veteran right-handed bat with some pop made sense. Plus as mentioned we have a similar player in Donovan.
But it seems the last five years or so the Cardinals are kind of snake bit with trades. They never seem to work out. My hope is Liberatore is on his way to being a top of the rotation starter and that deal for Arozarena ends up at least a wash in the long run.

I’ll gladly take Edman back any day, but Victor has been heck of a CF so far. Playing great defense, running the bases well, and being a league average hitter. I don’t want o be dumb and run another CF with great defense out of town because they aren’t a great hitter (Bader, then Edman)

BikeMike, you and I looked like idiots for a while stating Liberatore should get more opportunities to start. So far this year Liberatore is redeeming our stubbornness regarding him.
