Graceffo’s motion is a little old school as he steps back and winds up. Most pitchers today do the simple pivot on the rubber.
April 30, 2025 at 7:23 pm #280762Greceffo with Ray Washburn’s old number, 44. I think more recently Jake Woodford wore 44.
The best of course was Hank Aaron, with a nod to Willie McCovey. I like how in 1963, Aaron and McCovey tied for the NL home run lead with 44, and both wore #44.
April 30, 2025 at 7:27 pm #280764Bold prediction, Euro! Matz WS MVP…..stranger things have happened…I think. Nice din-din, BicycleMike. I can only dream of din-din, as I’m stuck working OT tonight down here at the salt mines and only have access to Oscar Meyer bologna sandwiches…….which if they were of the beef variety, I’d readily gulp a couple down……these red labeled bologna packages aren’t fit for consumption. Anyway, I wish I were at home watching this beauty on the tele. This twin bill sweep will save Oli’s job…..for now.
April 30, 2025 at 7:29 pm #280765Most recently, Kyle Gibson wore 44 last season.
April 30, 2025 at 7:32 pm #280767Not the greatest din-din, Pugs. I am living the cushy, retired life right now. Did have an offer of a four month contract gig come my way, but I told the recruiter thanks but no thanks, and said to not bring anything my way until the Fall. Gonna enjoy the warm weather months away from the salt mines.
April 30, 2025 at 7:34 pm #280768Back to Graceffo, I don’t recall a Cardinal pitcher with a first name of Gordon since Gordon Richardson back in the pennant winning year of 1964.
And now this Reds pitcher’s last name is Richardson. Weird time warp.
April 30, 2025 at 7:48 pm #280769Aaron Judge is having himself a monster season. 2-2 tonight with HR #10. In a month of play he has 29 runs and 31 RBIs while batting .422 with an OBP of .518 and SLG of .759. WAR of 2.9 and he may be on his way to a 3rd season of over 11 WAR. He has been hitting like peak Barry Bonds the last year minus the steroids.

Doubtful, Pugs. It was a couple of years ago though, but not one of my better calls. As for din din, I just finished eating chicken, broccoli, and skyr. Gonna have a cup of decaf shortly.
April 30, 2025 at 7:59 pm #280771The Rockies actually won a game today!
April 30, 2025 at 8:04 pm #280772Redbirds made that one look easy. Gonna switch over to Pirates-Cubs and see if the Bucs can hold on and win.

Dollander had a fairly good game. Curious to see how he does for his career as he is super talented, but pitching in Coors isn’t an easy task for anyone.
April 30, 2025 at 8:05 pm #280774Graceffo pitched very well today and helped save the bullpen. His reward will be getting sent back to Memphis though as that is how it works.
April 30, 2025 at 8:06 pm #280775bike mike, retirement done right is a real blessing, isn’t it? Hopefully by the Fall, you’ll be able to think of some reasons to tell the recruiter to stay away for good, haha.
April 30, 2025 at 8:09 pm #280776I pointed this out several times last year and I’ll continue to maintain my point. Sometimes I watch Graceffo and his body language shows immediately that he plans to dominate. Other times he looks laissez-faire. His results always follow as you might expect. Guess which Gordon we saw tonight?
April 30, 2025 at 8:16 pm #280777Aaron Judge is having himself a monster season. 2-2 tonight with HR #10.
I watched the Yanks-Os slaughter last night. Our old buddy Gibson had a nightmare of an outing. I think it was his first game this year. Four of the first five batters homered off him to start the game, including Judge. Wonder if that’s ever happened before? For a good while, the only guy he could seem to get out was another of our old buddies, Goldy.

Indeed it is, Euro. I am blessed in that at this point I don’t have to work, but still can contribute and like what I do professionally so in the right circumstance, I am okay grinding. But it is funny what you said, as I told Lady Bike the same thing – that come the Fall I may just tell the recruiters to forget it. 😁
April 30, 2025 at 9:17 pm #280780“Most recently, Kyle Gibson wore 44 last season.”
Oops yeah – forgot that Gibson II was one number below Gibson I, 44 and 45.

April 30, 2025 at 10:53 pm #280782That #44 on the back of Aaron’s jersey is also interesting in the sense that he totaled 44 HR’s in 4 seasons of his 23 year career. I’m always amazed when I look at the numbers on the back of Aaron’s card. Not only are they incredibly impressive, but they also seem to go on and on year after year…The hits, the taters, the RBI’s, the runs scored, the TB’s just keep on coming. They simply never stop. It’s almost eerie. His career is not unlike some infinite universal force that continues on without limit. It’s pretty doggone impressive.
April 30, 2025 at 11:04 pm #280783Cardinals pick up 1.5 games on the Cubbies. I love DH’s.

May 1, 2025 at 1:19 am #280785What a pleasure it is to wake up in the morning and enjoy all those 0s, when you realize they belong to the other guys.
Rah Cardinals!May 1, 2025 at 5:40 am #280789I was off yesterday and my fishing trip was rained out. I don’t mind rain but the streams I fish rose with the overnight rain and become dangerous for wading (which is what I do). Anyway I needed a new phone and it was nice to have a couple good games to watch while I switched the phones over. That is pretty much an all day job.
