Another disappointing breakfast.
I gotta quit calling up the results of Cardinal night games before I eat. Don’t need to start the day with heartburn.
I am just now catching up on the discussion, but in my mind, you would be hard pressed to find a better player than Lou Gehrig in the history of baseball. He would rank at the top of my list.
Yeah, when you look at the legendary all time leaders in bare bones offensive production categories such as RBI’s, TB’s, SLG etc. you see all of these playeres with 12,000 to 15,000 PA’s. You then see Gehrig’s name in the middle of these all time greats and he’s at the top of every important category with only 9665 PA’s. Foxx and Williams are similar in that respect, but in my view, Gehrig’s numbers are by far the most astounding. Like you mentioned, Lou Gehrig may indeed be the the best in the history of the game. In any case, you won’t get much of an argument from me.
