Top of 11. Jackson still dealing for Seattle. Contreras situated at 2nd base for the Birds.

Gorman – Grounds out to Naylor at 1st, but Gorman does his job by advancing Contreras on over to 3rd base.

Saggese- Perfect time for his first 4 hit ML game. And there she is as he drills a red hot grounder just past Crawford at short and out into left-center field for a hit….Contreras trots on in with the Cards first run since Herrera’s 1st inning tater.

Pages – *Saggese swipes 2nd base. Pages strikes out swinging.

Fermin – Robbed by Suarez at 3rd…..not a bad play by Stretch Naylor at 1st too.

Jorge(properly pronounced “Hor-Hay”) Polonco promptly greets O’Brien with a leadoff double down the line in right and just like that this game is tied…..and we’re in some big time trouble.

A walk to Suarez and a bunt single by Radly loads the bases to it’s full capacity and there’s still no outs.

Crawford grounds it down to Contreras at 1st who fires it home for the out and the throw back to 1st won’t get Crawford…..but now a ground ball potentially gets us out of this fiasco.

Young ……and there it is!! A 1-2-3 twin killing does the trick……we go to the 12th. Now if we end up winning this one it’s more than a miracle….a simple miracle wouldn’t adequately describe this Cardinals victory if they can get it.

With 16 games still left to play the Cardinals were 4.5 games off the pace for the final NLWC berth in 2011. There were no quitters on that team.

Top of 12. Hancock on for Seattle, with Fermin taking up shop out at 2nd base for St. Louis.

Victor Scott – Grounds out to 2nd after getting jammed on a Hancock offering and he does not advance the runner and that’s a big time Ouch!

And a popup to SS and a little roller to 1st base gets Seattle out of this 12th inning unscathed. Unfortunately gang we won’t see a 13th inning. I’ve seen enough baseball over the years to know what’s coming now.

Maybe Arenado is still writhing in pain as a result of his shoulder strain, but can you envision Albert Pujols or Yadier Molina laying down on a cotton covered bed when their team was 4 or 5 games off the pace for a post-season berth with 16 games still left to play? And if they did, what would TLR have to say about that?

This is one of the strangest games I’ve ever witnessed. There will be a 13th inning…..unbelievable…..bizarre would be the word best describing this affair. It’s almost as if neither one of these teams truly wants to put this one in the win column.

Top of 13. Hancock still on the mound for Seattle with Walker in the running position out at 2nd base.

Burleson- Lines out to left with Walker having to stand pat at 2nd base

Contreras- Bounces it right back to where it came from and Hancock whirls around towards 2nd base, but has no option but to whip it on over to Naylor at 1st.

Gorman -Flies out to Rodriguez in center to retire the side.

A walkoff Rivas 2 run shot to right puts us out of our misery…..4-2 Mariners your unhappy final.

This loss would have really hurt if we were legitimately in the playoff hunt. I don’t have the numbers at my fingertips, but we had to have been about 1-13 in the RISP department. Saggese’s 4-5 effort garners him player of the game honors.

Looks like it was pretty lonely out there last night on the posting ranch.

It was so quiet that I could hear a pin drop with the howls of wolves audible from the far off distance, Cardinal in France. It was so mellow that I left my PBP A-Game at home and brought my D-Game last night. Get a few active game threaders going and I just may unleash my A-Game.
