Crooks didn’t get an AB, but I’ve watched him hit quite a bit. What I hadn’t seen much of was his catching and what I saw there I loved. He was working with Svanson and Fernandez who he worked with quite a bit in AAA, but his hands were soft and caught the ball very smooth. One of those things when you see it you have to like it.
The Reds announcers said that Prieto was a good contact guy.
Then he swings like a maniac with two strikes and whiffs.
I guess that’s the Cardinal way – swing like a maniac with two strikes in a pressure situation.
Prieto is pretty good at contact. But he also swings at everything all the time. Major league pitchers will probably eat him up. I was surprised he was added to the roster despite being Rule 5 eligible.
This was a really fun game to watch. Pages, Winn, Fernandez, and Svanson all with big moments. Fun to see 2 debuts. Good game.
