6:35 p.m.
RHP Miles Mikolas (6-9, 4.99) vs. RHP Adrian Houser (6-4, 2.67)
FanDuel // KMOXNote that Saturday is an off day due to football facility conflict.
August 22, 2025 at 8:48 am #291098Why are they still running Mikolas out there at this point?
They can’t trade him, they aren’t going to re-sign him – are there literally zero guys at AAA that could share his remaining starts between them for the season just to get a look or two at a few guys?
Is it 100% tied to 40 man roster issues?
August 22, 2025 at 9:10 am #291099There isn’t anybody else. They would have to put together a piggyback/pen game every 5 days. All the stuff guys the org loves so much craped out with injuries. I’m convinced the only reason McGreevey, with his ho hum stuff and not a lot of swing and miss, has ever gotten a chance is his tendency to be the last man standing. He did stay on the mound enough to get in the innings it takes to learn how to pitch rather than relying on just throwing it past guys until the arm blows out which seems to be the org’s MO with pitchers.

ParticipantI suppose pitching everything 90+ is the mode these days. If you throw less you better have some big movement on it. The more the better. If it hangs you’re gonna get lit up! Still need runs to win consistently. I hear Steinbrenner field game Sat would conflict with Bucs preseason game across the Street.Too much traffic hassle so game rescheduled.Could you imagine both letting out at the same time?

jj-cf-stlParticipantGood to have our leadoff man back.
August 22, 2025 at 4:31 pm #291111When will Arenado be back?
August 22, 2025 at 4:59 pm #291113This was posted on Tuesday Rat.
Nolan Arenado said this afternoon he hopes to begin taking swings by Friday and is optimistic he'll be able to start a throwing program next week. He plans to play again this season, though that timetable is still TBD.

August 22, 2025 at 5:20 pm #291115#STLCards LF Alec Burleson has been scratched from tonight’s starting lineup because of right wrist discomfort. He injured his wrist on an awkward swing in Thursday’s win.
Rookie Nathan Church starts in CF and Lars Nootbaar moves to LF.

August 22, 2025 at 6:53 pm #291117TB base running blunder right before a HR and an automatic double that bounced over the fence means Mikolas only gives up one first inning run instead of three.
Down early again. At least this team has plenty of experience playing from behind.August 22, 2025 at 6:55 pm #291118
jj-cf-stlParticipantCan’t find the zone w/the changeup and the curve is hanging. Lucky just one run allowed.
August 22, 2025 at 7:01 pm #291119
jj-cf-stlParticipantBottom half generates a run
1-1August 22, 2025 at 7:04 pm #291120Wooster2
ParticipantWe were lucky to escape the first inning with only one run. Mikolas looking labored to me. Like hes really not into the game. His pitching stats really aren’t that bad. If he gets some run support he could look pretty good.

ParticipantIts a turf field the balls gonna travel slow. Its gonna take some quick defense tonight.
August 22, 2025 at 7:08 pm #291122
stlcard25ParticipantMikolas serving up batting practice. The #9 hitter takes him deep and it’s 3-1 Rays.
August 22, 2025 at 7:14 pm #291123
jj-cf-stlParticipantWhen he does find the plate with offspeed pitches, they leave the park.
August 22, 2025 at 7:23 pm #291124Mikolas is gone after this year – right???
August 22, 2025 at 7:27 pm #291125
jj-cf-stlParticipantThe D is not helping on a night where a ball in play looks likely.
August 22, 2025 at 7:31 pm #291126Wooster2
ParticipantWell that went south quick…
August 22, 2025 at 7:31 pm #291127Mikolas mercifully pulled in the third down 5-1.
August 22, 2025 at 7:41 pm #291128Mikolas is gone after this year – correct???
August 22, 2025 at 7:43 pm #291129
jj-cf-stlParticipantHe is a FA-to-be Rats. We should try that HR thing. It’s working for them.
August 22, 2025 at 8:00 pm #291133Congratulations to Nathan Church for his 1st big league hit
August 22, 2025 at 8:17 pm #291134Wooster2

August 22, 2025 at 8:23 pm #291135Wooster2
ParticipantSeen Pozo pop out a couple times lately in good situations.Wonder if anybody has talked to him about trying to swing over the ball. He may put it in play. Better than popping out.
