Be an interesting game to pencil in a lineup for Oli. Clearly you want a lefty dominant lineup for Ohtani but he doesn’t go long in games.

If they end up keeping Pozo, perhaps they should allow him to audition for a spot in the rotation. He may turn out to be the next “Big Bart”…I’d pay to see him work a turn or two.

I predict Babe Ruth goes 5 innings of 1 run ball and hits a HR.

He’s not a once in generation player or even a once in a lifetime player – he’s the rarest bird I’ve ever seen.

The only thing he can’t do is pitch with both arms….

A win today would be a 3-3 road trip. A loss is 2-4 road trip.
Libby has now made 20 GS. He’s 23 IP over last seasons total, his IP/GS is decreasing, and so are his pitch count totals. If this is scaling him back I’m all for it. 150 IP for the season would be a good max. Turning 86 IP into 200 IP in one season is unnecessary and likely asking for trouble.

Puts a lot of pressure and workload on your pen. I’d wait until September and throw out a 6 man or just have a Matz like replacement being him. They will have some extra arms next month to use. However I’m not the manager and POBO. So they will do what they will do.

After our recent pen sell off, the increased pressure on the pen should be expected, and already war gamed going forward.
Libbys innings should also not have surprise anyone. A competent org would prioritize the 2026 rotation, over any bullpen auditions, and it appears they are. I’d vote against any more 7 inning GS for Libby. I’d be favoring 5 IP starts.

Is Tommy Edman injured again, or is he mostly a bench player these days?

Libby not doing a good job of getting the couple guys he should be getting out. I’m glad Muncy isn’t playing today.

After watching Mikolas he looks like Steve Carlton. 1 bad pitch.

Add a couple errors and you get a bloated pitch count and an early pull which I agree with.

I agree jj. Need to keep his pitchcount down for the rest of the year.

I hope they stretch Leahy out next ST.

This turning out to be a gift game to the Dodgers. The Padres should be mad at us, so far.

Leahy was 60 IP before todays game with Matz onboard. He may get stretched out like Libby was last season, 80-ish IP or so.

Smart move by Oli. Bunting Pages over to 2B makes more sense than waiting for VS II to move him over.

Leahy looked really really good that inning. I once hated the idea of starting him for various reasons. I’m starting to come around to it with that sweeper working like it does.

The Cardinals had so many chanced to bring that 3rd run home. But no success.

The high point of this game has bee Leahy’s pitching.

Walker drives in two with a base hit instead of striking out trying to hit a home run. The homers will come in time.

It was interesting that they intentionally walked Pages to get to Scott. Scott has become so bad against left handed pitching that they walked someone with an OPS in the 500’s to get to him.

Saggese with a glory AB coming up, but a sac fly will do fine too.

Would this team dare to win a series against the Dodgers played on the road? The baseball gypsies say it’s a sure thing.
