Well, no matter the outcome, at least they have a chance to win a game against a team that I still believe is the odds on favorite to win the WS.

    Man Herrera kills lefties!

And just like that Herrera improves that chance with the solo tater.

Have I ever said Ivan Herrera can hit, hit, hit. He crushes mistakes and has a great all fields approach that gives him a consistently high BA.

Marmol should get some credit for putting Ivan in the 2 hole. If you’re going to have Scott (at 9), Donovan, and Burleson grouped up, you’re just inviting the other manager to put a lefty in against you. So you take advantage of that and hide one of the best lefty mashers in baseball in between. Some day they will just walk him. But that day is not today.

Well the pen gives up the lead promptly after the Cards took it back

Herrera is indeed the best hitter in baseball against left handed pitching this season of anyone with 60 or more plate appearances. And he added to that tonight.

Pozo comes through to take the lead

Pozo lays off a couple outside pitches and the pitcher comes inside to Pozo which is where he loves the ball. Nice hitting from a guy who came out of nowhere to get big hit after big hit in key spots this season.

Pozo didn’t get the memo. He just plays, rather well.

As a starter, Pozo is kind of meh at the plate. But as a substitution or pinch hitter, Pozo turns into Lou Gehrig. Pretty amazing.

Victor Scott needs to spend his offseason in bunting school.

And now here’s where we begin to miss Helsley . . .

Great catch by Nootbaar. He had a lot of ground to cover

The Nootz lays it all out there for a spectacular play in RF.

Beautiful strikeout of Freeman. One more JoJo.

If you pitch and defend well, a couple of swings can win it. Well done boys.

Nice win. Gray, Herrera, Pozo, Romero, Nootbaar all heroes in that one.

Nice win against a first rate team. If they can repeat the feat tommorrow and get back to .500 we’re right back in the running for the post-season…I can pretend, can’t I?

Didn’t think we would come through when we had 1st and 3rd and all of a sudden had 2 outs. Pozo came through and Romero shut the door with a some help from Noot.

Well that game has a little bit of everything.

I can’t believe the Bums have used 16 different starting pitchers this year.

Nootbar saved the day with the best catch I’ve seen in quite awhile.

    Shildt is smiling.
