Ah, our ‘ace’ is on the mound…..

He IS due for a decent outing.

He showed a little luster early on, but now seems to be an ace with an ERA that’s headed towards 5.00 and, in my view, may be the most overrated SP’er since Doug Drabek.

Odd that Saggese gets another start at 3B. In my experience, Saggese is a poor third baseman and he hits lefties better than righties. But here he is playing 3B over Gorman against a right hander. Is Gorman dealing with more back issues or are they keeping him out because of his poor throws the last couple games?

This has the makings of a sweep written all over it.

And the atmospheric conditions out near Doyer Stadium look good for this one. Pleasant, slight cloud cover, and temps in the low 70s at game time.

Here in SW Indiana it is currently storming and raining. At least as I type this.

Apparently Luken Baker just got taken by the Dodgers. I didn’t realize he was even on waivers. Watch them turn Baker into a serviceable first baseman.

And we just picked up a lefty off waivers from the Marlins named Anthony Veneziano.

It’s what happens when the season ends in July. It’s always been the sacrosanct and inalienable right of the baseball fan to whimper, whine and moan in pain and discontent when the baseball season ends before the arrival of August…Haha!

I am 76 years old and a Cardinal fan all my life and I don’t react like that.

I was also unaware that Baker had been placed on waivers. However, I am not surprised by the move. I did not see a place for him on the major league roster or see the Redbirds getting much for him in a trade. Wish him all the best moving forward.

    It’s a reset year. Lol

Baker was on borrowed time when the got the 1B for Matz. It’s not a huge loss. He’s behind Freeman and I’m sure a couple others in the first base pecking order.

I think they should keep running Gorman out there at 3b every single day until they decide he’s a goner.

He’s not dinged up again is he??

Brewers win over Atlanta 3-1 at Fulton County Stadium.

Reds lead the Cubs 3-2 after eight at Wrigley.

Cards and Doyers no score after one at Doyer Stadium.

If you can’t hit for average, you better hit for power, otherwise, your not hitting at all.

Freeman makes hitting just look so easy. Always been a great guy to watch hit.

Looks like we are getting ‘good’ Sonny tonight.

Be fun to win the series in LA and help Schildt out a little.

Gray looking good through 5 and only has 60 pitches. I imagine definitely he goes back for the 6th, but Marmol has been pulling starters very early so if he gives up a couple of baserunners he is most likely pulling him.

Noot was looking for a walk there and should have taken the bat off his shoulder twice. Lucky that ball 3 wasn’t strike 3 and then watches a beauty to hit. Noot needs to be more aggressive to make better advantage of his good exit velos.

I agree, Albert. If there’s a nicer looking swing in the game of baseball than the one featured by Freddie Freeman, I missed it. I’ll also say that, in my view, he remains the best all around hitter in either league. When he propels the barrel through the zone, it’s a genuine thing of beauty and grace.

Yeah Albert, Noot is way too passive. It helps him walk more, but he also looks bad like this time.

Really good start by Gray today. Good to see him with a great start again.
