Any reason why Libby was lifted in the 5th?

It may not matter. It would seem Helsley is not available tonight. Think Oli is being tempted to mail it in after Leahy. 1 hit, lucky to be down 1. Get that feeling.

Bling, somehow every time I’m able to watch Walker take an AB, he watches strike 3 or chops the ball into the ground, but it looks like he has been hitting some lately when I don’t watch.

858, I think they are really concerned about Liberatore’s innings thrown this year. He was very good at the beginning of the year and he said his arm was tired as well and performance has dropped. Having him pitch from the pen for 2 years didn’t help him keep his arm endurance up.

Winn with a beautiful play that only a cannon of an arm could convert to an out.

Leahy pitching good. Hopefully they will let him pitch 2 to 3 innings and build up to 4 to 5 at the end of the year. Leahy’s arsenal is well suited for the rotation and I could see them letting him be the #5 starter next year.

    Once again no offense.

No runs in Colorado on Wednesday.

    Only three runs last night.

Only one run through six innings tonight.

This team doesn’t have anybody that can hit.

And the only way they are going to get a bat is free agency.

The Cardinals are making some great plays on defense. Leahy having another real good outing. Looks like he has figured out whatever was wrong when he struggled some after the great start.

Wonderful story Chip told about Ichiro being in St. Louis, and putting flowers on George Sisler’s grave. Ichiro topped what looked to be an unbeatable record, when he had 262 hits to overcome Sisler’s 257 in 1920. Ichiro had more ABs, but the world of putting asterisks on records faded over time.

Ichiro was some player. I watched a show on MLB this morning that showed highlights of Ichiro, both on offense and defense, and the guy was something else.

To be fair, the Cardinals offense the last three games is 0-9-3, so 12 runs for an average of 4 per game. Not horrible, but not overly impressive.

Nothing wrong with the slide Winn made – surprised this is even an issue. And the umps made the right call – no slide infraction.

Contreras is really taking a beating tonight…..both at the plate and in the field. He better be careful driving home tonight.

This is likely it. Donny walks and Herrera up.

A little scrum again. Oh well! Boys will be boys.

Nearly had ourselves a donnybrook at the ol’ ballpark tonight. In an odd sort of way I kind of miss those baseball brawls from yesteryear. As a kid, I was in attendance for two of them. One was in Milwaukee County Stadium at a 10 cent beer night when it was a group of fans who were fighting and the other one a few years later was when I lived in Cleveland…..again at a 10 cent beer night there when total bedlam erupted…..now Contreras gets hit by a pitch for the second time tonight…..this is getting serious with him…….he needs to be watched carefully after this ballgame so nothing bad happens……Oli better be tucking him in bed with Dave & Ava playing in the background.

Three hits. We only got three hits. Ther reason being we don’t have any hitters, as rat would say.

Felt like a loss at 2-1. They threw the 3 all stars at us and that is not good for us.

Really is the lack of consistency that kills this team. That and sucking on the road and against.500 teams.

Pages is a demotion topic. For July his 50+ PA’s are sporting a .316 ops, and after tonights game his OPS may start with a .2??, for the month. A 1/16 BB/K and no extra base hits suggest hes getting the bat knocked out of his hands.

All the chirping along with the little shoving matches put forth by the two teams reminds me that it’s becoming very rare to see teams take care of business on the field in the manner in which they once did. In times past, they’d have settled the dispute once and for all with some genuine bear hugs and love taps…In today’s game these players often look foolish and remind me of grade school aged girls screamimg insults at one another. If you’re going to go to all the trouble of trotting out there on to the field to confront someone, make it worth your while…They looked silly to me.

Most baseball fights are sissy boy fights with a shove or two and some ‘harsh words’.

They make way too much money to start swinging and get an unpaid vacation…

I’ll admit that he’s never met a pitch he didn’t like to swing at. Also reminded that any offense you get from #2 is plus but right now he’s not even giving us the plus.

I agree, ZTR, but there was a time not too very long ago when disputes were actually settled when it was plainly clear that a proverbial line had been crossed. In other words, it was taken care of and not left to be mistaken for something that may be tolerated to happen again. But you’re right, some of these guys make so much money and are pampered to a degree that they don’t want to take a chance of mussing their hair or breaking one of their fancy sparkly pieces of jewelry dandling from their collective ears or necks. “Are those genuine pearls you’re wearing”…Haha!

Contreras APBA card will have a ’42’ HBP number for sure
