I do think Pallante has his issues. His control sometimes gets lost especially early in games and he is terribly slow to the plate which allows runners to steal a lot of bases. I’d like to see him go down and sharpen up a couple of his pitches.

All that said, his fielders cost him 2 of the 5 runs today and extended his pitch count. That would still have been 3 runs over 5 or 6 innings against the woeful Rockies, but it’s not quite as bad as it looks.

Well, the sunny side seems to be that this Cardinal team has returned from the break and left no doubt that they’ve packed it in at roughly the 100 game mark. Strike the colors…There’s no longer anything at all deceptive about the ’25 edition. They can’t and won’t compete for anything and it’s high time to acknowledge this season’s failed undertaking. Hopefully, we’ll see a thorough house cleaning that begins with the removal of those that are responsible for placing the failed endeavor on to the field of play. It’s been a long three seasons that have provided anything other than success. I’d say it’s high time those at the very top flushed the system entirely clean of the personnel that were charged with developing a successful baseball team.

    Once again no runs.

    They can’t score.

They don’t have anybody that can hit.

We are on the verge of the 1970s again.

Everybody remember the Cardinal teams of the 1970s? Some decent players. Some decent records. But not enough to accomplish anything.

And this time Herzog is not available to save the franchise.

Amen! I am sick to my stomach over the last three years! We have got to make changes at the very top! I can’t see the end of this pitiful run with these clowns in charge!

According to Goold, that’s the first Rockies shutout in 220 games . . .

They’ve turned this proud franchise into a laughing stock. It’s a complete mess on the level of which they bought the club 30 years ago. I have zero confidence in amy of them to fix it.

How in the world do you get shutout by the Rockies….has Marmol heard of stolen bases or something like a hit and run.

There is no way that dude can be back as Manager next year….that is 7 shutouts in the last 23 games

Must of been gut wrenching for you and Rats 2016-2018. The sky was falling then as well one would assume.

I don’t know what you want them to do. Bloom is taking over for Bowtie. The Dewitt’s aren’t in sell mode. I think you might have to ready yourself for some things similar when Bloom was in charge of the Rays. Working with some payroll limitations (not even close to as bad as in TB) and some restructuring of the way we develop players. Those things take time. It won’t be a full rebuild.

I honestly don’t think any of you could sit through a complete rebuild. JMHO of observing.

I would have zero problems with a complete rebuild. But i kind of agree, a lot on here couldnt handle it.

Are we entirely certain that the one who calls himself Bloom will be charged with rescuing us from this baseball abyss? What about Johnny’s stylish looking traveling secretary who always keeps a nice looking, well coiffed, hairdo? Whatever happened to him and his inherent baseball expertise? Why can’t he return us to the glory days of the Redbird dynasty and the “Cardinal Way?” In any case, I’m more than a bit reluctant to place my faith in this one known as, “Bloom”…

The 2016-2018 teams were a combined 28 games over 500 and never finished worse than third! If you think this latest three year run in comparable to those teams we will just agree that we see baseball differently!

I, too, could live with a reset, or a complete rebuild, or whatever they would like to call it if they would just get on with the job. But I see no evidence that any effort at all is being made to improve this team. We have wasted two-thirds of a season shifting deck chairs while effectively paying two general managers, neither of whom seems to be doing much of anything.

Well, that was disappointing. My prediction of 10-6 Cardinals was almost right. The Rockies did their part, the Cardinals just forgot to put the “1” up in front of the zero.

Pallante was as expected. Good when the ball is down. When he gets it up just a little, he gets hits hard.

Our club hit several balls that I thought would leave the yard, but they just hung up so long and did not seems to carry like balls usually do out here.

A real low point. Will be interesting to see the moves they make over the next week.

On a “who is this guy” topic, they put a note on the scoreboard that the Rockies’ Mickey Moniak leads all of MLB in several offensive categories since June 1. Don’t recall all of them but it was impressive, like OPS, slugging percentage and several others.

The guy is a former first overall pick. Maybe he is finally figuring it out. Confidence is a huge part of athletic success, and it looks like he is gaining it.

Yes, BikeMike, Moniak gives me some hope for Jordan Walker.

At any rate, it’s sweep or the fire sale happens against San Diego. I’m fine with selling off just about anyone. We have few players who are good enough and controllable enough to be part of the next contending Cardinals team.

Well you do have not finishing in last going for you side. Bottom line is one of those season they finished 83-79 and in all three they weren’t close in the Central race and didn’t make the playoffs And that was when they had the one game playoff.

They had to get trade for talent to make it work. I don’t see us having that surplus to make anything happen without crippling something we need to compete.

The Cardinals and the Nationals are now the only two teams to lose series to both the 24 White Sox’s and the 25 Rockies! What a group!

No, the bottom line is that this team is significantly worse than the teams of 2016-2018!

I haven’t been able to watch much lately since I was on vacation and had been busy before, but it looks like I chose a good few weeks to be busy. I tried a few innings last night and it wasn’t worth it.
