Amsinger is on a 4 year deal with MLB Network. Why would Amsinger, Buck, Carpenter, or anyone established want to leave good, pretty secure money to come to bankrupt Bally Sports Network? Get a good upcoming younger guy who wants to get his voice out there and can establish himself as the voice of Cardinals TV.

I’m with you on that. Are there any good play by play guys who currently do games for any of the affiliates?

Now and then I will tune in to various broadcasts of games on SiriusXM. While I do not have any particular names, it seems there are a lot of really good young broadcasters out there.

At the end of Mike Shannon’s tenure as the Cardinals main radio announcer, I would listen to other team’s games and it seemed almost every club had a younger, more dynamic guy in the booth than we had in Shannon.

Now these were the radio guys, which is a little different from television as radio requires more vocalizing. Still though, I think there are a lot of good, young broadcasters who would love a shot at the Cardinals job.

I’ll do it for cheap. I don’t have much of a voice for it, there would probably be lots of dead time, me telling Brad to be quite for a little but, FCC fines…but I would have fun and know the team pretty well.

You just said the magic word 667…cheap. Apply, they might hire you.

Propose a multi year deal at lower AAV. Backloaded.

The inability to fill this position is a bit surprising to me. You would have to think that the Cardinal job is one of the more attractive in MLB given their following. I am wondering if the Cardinals are running into roadblocks due to the whole Sinclair Broadcasting situation.

For what it is worth … I enjoy listening to games broadcast with the Cardinals Radio team of Rooney, Horton and Claiborne. They keep things moving and give the listener a good feel of the game. I would hate to see that team disrupted.

Is there a report they are having trouble filling the job? I haven’t seen it.

There is no report … just would have thought it would have been filled by now.

Supposedly they have been turned down by Buck, Costas, and Amsinger but that shouldn’t be surprising. Those three are big name national personalities who probably aren’t interested in regional tv.

I am sure the Cards and Bally will find someone good.

Aaron Goldsmith? He is currently the Seattle Mariners radio PBP guy, right?

Yeah, he works for the Mariners, Rats. Looks as though right now he’s the frontrunner for the job. I listened to about 5 minutes of his PBP tater calls on youtube. I’ll hold off on any premature judements, but I have to say to that this guy should never be allowed to drink any coffee. He’s more than a little over the top. Every HR call that I listened to from this announcer sounded like it should have been reserved for a tater hit by either Mazeroski or B. Thompson…Haha!

I can assume the other candidate is our own Puggs. That could explain why he hasn’t been posting of late. Too busy charming the top brass to associate with us plebes

I went to Youtube and listened to him. Saying he is a little over the top is a total UNDERSTATEMENT! After listening to him I hope and pray he does not get the job. If he does I will hold judgement. And if he does it looks like I might be watching the games with the mute on.

I’ve been wondering about Pugs, too. I don’t doubt for one second that he has been interviewed for the gig.

Haha! Yeah, Rats…I’m not sure I could endure that guy for very long. I liked McLaughlin okay, but I still found myself deploying the mute button with a reasonable degree of consistency. At any rate, I don’t mind a little enthusiam, but that Goldsmith guy makes the type of noise that you’d expect from a flight deck…Haha!

    Looks like Goldsmith is out.
