I noticed all the pitchers drafted in the first 10 rounds did not make it to even Palm Beach while the pitchers drafted in second half did.
Why is that? Did they throw too many pitches while they were in college maybe?There’s a shutdown period between the end of the college season and the draft. It’s a bit risky to ramp all those arms back up after sitting cold following a long season. In general, the team is trying to protect its prized assets. The assets they draft in the later rounds are less protected and probably get the option to start throwing again if they want and if they prove they can do so effectively, they get an opportunity to play.
