Did anyone else see the photo of him Siani and Contreras and Noot couple others after his grand slam. They showed it again in todays game in black and white. I would love to have it. Can’t find it on google. Happy players having fun is a real good sign.
My takeaway from today is that the Cards had eight RBI from players not named Pham. That is a rare occurrence. Still, It was Burly and the bottom third, not the other big boys.
While one cannot credit it to Pham alone, here are the results after his two days with the team. Maybe his ship can help raise the level of all the boats.

I don’t know about .750, but he’s up to .667 at the moment. He may cool off a little, so .750 may be setting the bar a bit high.

Im not a betting man, if I was I would have bet Pham would never play for the Cardinals again. But this Carlson bet sounds like a sure thing.
I don’t think anyone envisioned the early firepower provided from Pham’s bat, but in my view, he’s got the chance to satisfy a need that’s been lacking all season long which is a RH’ed bat that can generate some offensive production. When he’s not in the lineup, just his presence on the bench is invaluable so long as he continues to produce. The new SP’er will certainly help if he contributes some decent turns in the rotation, but it’s my view that the RH’ed bat is by far the key addition at the deadline.

Just to reiterate but with different data, the 2024 SABR Defensive Index for AL left fielders up to the All-Star break has Pham 14th of 15, or second worst in the league, with a negative 2.8 SDI.

Regardless Pham has the following:
RF: 277 innings, -3 DRS, 0.8 UZR/150, -3 OAA
CF: 223 innings, -7 DRS, -11.5 UZR/150, 0 OAA
LF: 78 innings, -2 DRS, -10.5 UZR/150, -1 OAAHe’s certainly below-average in CF, but not horrible in RF/LF. His DRS was positive in LF the last few years, but his UZR was negative.
I never want Pham in CF. Nootbaar in CF with Pham in LF/RF would be the move when Siani is out. Donovan, Gorman, or Burleson at DH. Neither Donovan or Burleson are hitting well against LH pitching so whichever of the three go to the bench is fine with me.
Where would the Cards be without Pham?
He’s been Phamazing! I had high hopes, but he has exceeded my expectations!
Shame on the White Sox front office for not contacting Pham to tell him he was being traded before he found about it on X/Twitter. Pham said he learned from Jesse Rogers of ESPN and Casino Jon Heyman.
I bet Pham was delighted to leave the very worst team in baseball (and it is not even close). The Sox only have 27 wins all season (yet, they took their series against StL – at Busch, no less…).
To be fair though, would you want to be the one to tell him?
