Did I read somewhere where Junior Fernandez got promoted to Springfield?

Fernandez was promoted to Springfield today despite control still being a glaring issue. At this point, though, Springfield needs all the reinforcements they can get.

Stormin’ Gorman and Wailin’ Brady Whalen were at it again in the first game of the Peoria double-header, each hitting homers to power the Chiefs victory. In game two, no dingers just yet but there’s still time so stay tuned.

Tommy Parsons was at it again today… 5 IP, 3 H, 3 SO, 0 BB. Lowered his ERA to .026. I wonder why they only let him throw 53 pitches?

My guess would be because he hasn’t pitched in nine days, so he essentially skipped two times through the rotation.

Gomber, Ponce, Reyes, and Woodford had better watch out. The other Shew is about to drop on the I-55 shuttle!

Like Ed Sullivan use to say “He is a really good Shew.”

This is one reason why I am glad the Cards were able to go back to Peoria. Modern Woodmen Park is an island. The Quad Cities River Bandits have to play all of their games on the road until the flooding ends and the cleanup is done.

Trying to think when I went to a game there, how far off of the river the stadium was? I was thinking a 1/2 mile or more?

It’s not too far from the river. You can see the bridge that spans the river in that photograph. The exterior of the park in center field basically sits on the Mississippi. They have built the stadium up so that the river has to rise quite a bit to surround the stadium.
