ParticipantJohnson City did it. They were able to beat Kingsport not only to win the Appy West crown but knock Kingsport out. They will play their nemesis the Bristol Pirates in a best of three series (winner plays either Pulaski(NYY) or Burlington(KC) for the championship).
They should be starting Sommers on Sat. and Justo on Sun. The day off allows them to have HSoto ready for game 3 (if nec.) or to pitch the first game of the championship round.
We need to have at least one MiLB Champ. Go Mountain-Cards.
August 29, 2019 at 10:54 am #104290Johnson City has a loaded lineup. A lot of potential stars in that group. I am not surprised they are on the verge of the playoffs.
August 29, 2019 at 2:07 pm #104300Haven’t seen anything from the League but one could go ahead and assume the postseason is also cancelled for like the 3rd year in a row.
This weekend's series against the @FireFrogsBB has been cancelled due to the impending landfall of Hurricane Dorian. More information regarding ticket refunds and GCL games can be seen below. https://t.co/TKXEgEZhmO via @milb

August 29, 2019 at 6:18 pm #104310JC was fortunate to get in at two games over .500. In the other division, with the same record, they would have been seven games out. Issue was 4.69 team ERA. Now, with a fresh start, none of that matters.
August 29, 2019 at 11:21 pm #104320Memphis stayed alive with an 8-5 win over New Orleans. Tied the game in the 6th with home runs from Carlson and Williams. Won in the 9th on homers by Urius and Sosa. Junior Fernandez the winner.
With Iowa’s loss to Oklahoma City the Redbirds are 4 games to go with Iowa who lead them for the division championship by 4 games. So four straight sudden death encounters with Memphis the one to die if they lose. Still a terrific comeback by Memphis who have gone 13-2 including a 4 game sweep of Iowa in Memphis.
August 30, 2019 at 9:27 am #104344On Thursday, the #stlcards system went 4-2. Player of the Day Rayder Ascanio went 4-for-5 with two RBI and two runs scored in Springfield’s win. Memphis and Peoria had late wins and Palm Beach’s Griffin Roberts and SC’s Enmanuel Solano made strong starts. https://t.co/1sUlkHRe70 pic.twitter.com/bEWOUJXaJI

August 30, 2019 at 9:36 am #104347I watched the Memphis game last night. It was a heck of a comeback. They dug themselves a hole with some shoddy defense. Austin Warner gave up some hits but his defense didn’t help him at all.
August 30, 2019 at 9:55 am #104353Memphis slammed 6 home runs. They now have an outside chance to win the division.. 4 games left against Iowa, who’s in first place with the Redbirds 4 games back. However it turns out, it has been an impressive turnaround from 6 weeks + ago when the Redbirds were 20 games under .500.
Also good to see Roberts pitching a good game. I was beginning to believe he would be moved to the bullpen in 2020, and he still may.
