Springfield continues their 1st half collapse losing again. That puts them at 5-14 in the last 3 weeks after being in 1st place.
That will do it!

Wisdom is doing everything to show he deserves a chance. 40 man or not he should be an option to try out.
Also I’m starting to wonder if Mujica gets another nostalgic shot kinda like Guilmet

With DeJong’s return nearing, any current window for Wisdom looks to me to be about closed. That could still change later in the season or this will be his last year in the organization.
They may want to keep Mujica in Memphis. Like Guilmet, if he craters in StL, they likely lose him altogether. I would use a 40-man spot on Hudson long before Mujica. Look to the future, not the past.
I agree with you that Greene has a golden opportunity, but he needs more work.
Do they care if they lose a cratered Mijuca? They lose him at the end of the year anyway. With Wainwright and possibly Leone’s return before the end of the year 60 man spots will be tough. In the next month we should see the return of Lyons, Leone, Gregerson, and of course Holland today. They could also recall Gant or Poncedeleon and leave Hudson as the 6th starter and activate him only if needed. Dont really see where Hudson fits in right now.
CC, IMO, Memphis has been benefiting all year long from a stable guy at the back of the pen. For two months, Guilmet was lights out and Mujica is now performing well in that role. Though it matters little to none for St. Louis, it still matters. Mujica was signed as a minor league depth guy and he is performing in that role. Them not inviting him to MLB spring camp was a tell to me.
I am not in favor of bringing up Hudson “right now”. All I said is that I would much rather use a precious 40-man spot on him than on Mujica.
I agree that Wisdom may have taken a step forward this year. Average over .300, strikeouts down, bb up to 10% and very good defense as always. But with Carp, Martinez, Gyorko, Voit, Garcia and Munoz already there where will he get playing time. If the 40 man roster wasn’t so tight I would favor Wisdom up and Voit down but with DeJong coming off the DL it gets even tighter.
If the Cardinals become sellers at the trade deadline, which I believe they will at their present trend then Wisdom becomes a valuable piece in a major trade or if we clear out a lot of the jam in front of him then give him a shot over the balance of the season.
If our current trend continues then missing the playoffs, finishing 4th and having a lot of duplicate pieces on the roster and few real keepers then we become sellers, start over or continue this downward trend. The scary thing about our current decline is that it come when Ozuna is becoming the real thing.
If Gyorko is involved in any deal, then Wisdom may get a chance. Also, Hudsons stuff could play up as a reliever with needing only 2 pitches. And his work load could be lessened. As long as Gant is your 6th starter, you have the luxury of bringing Hudson up. Considering Hicks, Norris, and maybe Gomber being our only good options we have got to try everything, especially our own prospects first.
Sooner, why do you view the Cardinals as sellers when they are basically tied for the second wild card currently? That would be a radical change in strategy and I don’t see it shaping up that way.
I also do not understand the current trend of finishing in fourth place point. They are firmly in third – same as last year.
I sense some are being dragged down by the problems, but stepping back and looking at the big picture, the Cardinals are on pace for 89 wins, six games improvement over last season. That is better than I had expected coming into the year.
