All games are early except Peoria with a 5:00 p.m. start.
Memphis at Iowa: Dakota Hudson
Springfield at Arkansas: Jake Woodford
Palm Beach at Charlotte: Anthony Shew
Peoria vs. Wisconsin: Alvaro SeijasYesterday’s rainout was a blessing for Springfield seeing as how Sam Tewes has joined Connor Jones on the DL. They have the next 3 games covered with Woodford-Helsley-Greene but Wed. and Thurs. they’ll need a couple of guys to step in. I’m not even guessing who they’ll be.
They already put Chris Ellis in the 4th slot so there’s just one starter needed. What’s going on with Casey Meisner? Surely he is ready to pitch by now.
Hudson still looks like a future reliever to me. His peripherals are not overwhelming for AAA despite the good results.
Hoping Seijas can go a little deeper in the games now that we are approaching May.
Few other notes from today’s action:
Mercado hit his second home run and swiped two bags, giving him a PCL-leading nine stolen bases. Gonzalez fanned six over 2 2/3 frames in an overpowering relief outing.
Woodford was solid the first two times through the lineup. The Travelers chased him the third time around. Knizner keeps hitting and would not be surprised if he leapfrogged Kelly as the best catching prospect at some point. A sleeper candidate, Urias went 4-for-4 today with two doubles.
Meanwhile, Young smacked his sixth home run for Palm Beach. The clock is ticking for him at 24-year old, who should be in Double-A. Williams continues to pitch well out of the ‘pen for the Beach Birds. He’s more interesting with a velocity spike.

Sorry for the late reply. I intended to say Williams would be a more interesting prospect assuming he has a velocity spike. Good start to the season nonetheless.
Gotcha although I believe his sitting at 93-94 will be enough if he develops his other 3 pitches including a curveball that is developing
Good to see Ellis destroy the “need to stretch out” to be a starter myth. Have always thought that idea was stupid.
I wonder if one size could possibly fit all individuals. Perhaps stretching out is considered safest.
When I retire I sure would love to visit the Cards minor league parks. I have been to Peoria, Memphis and Springfield, all great venues for a game. Maybe go to Palm Beach and the short season clubs one of these days.
