For the second day in a row the Peoria Chiefs and Beloit Snappers were postponed due to snow and unplayable field conditions Sunday in Wisconsin. Since the Chiefs don’t return to Beloit in the first half, the games will be made up in Peoria May 13-15.

Boy the Cards must be stacked for outfielders in the minors if they are keeping Carlson at AA. But then I think of some of the names at Memphis and I understand. Even the big Cards have a complement of good OFs. And ONeil was heard saying “Ain’t no way to stop Jose?”
MM, that’s a good point. Outfield is a fairly well stocked position in our system, and should let us not have to panic and sign Ozuna at the end of the year. Take the pick, Mo.
As for Carlson, he is still so young that I think they may end up keeping him in Springfield all this year, and Memphis all of next year. He could get a callup next year and still will only be 21 for the entire season. That would put his full debut at 22 (like Flaherty on the pitching side) in 2021 which would still be a good pace.
Is it next season that the teams will be limited to 28 in September? If so, you can bet the extras will be pitchers so minor league fielders will be going home and have no chance at a cup of coffee.
Yep, next season is it I believe. However, a guy like Carlson who’s a switch hitter and has played all three OF spots probably stands a better shot than most hitters if he’s playing we’ll come Sept 2020. That or Knizner if he’s not up in St Louis all year next year.
Perry DellaValle had a nice year in the Gulf Coast League in 2018: ERA-1.97, WHIP-1.095, IP-45, SO-67, HR9-0. He skipped Peoria and is doing will at Palm Beach: ERA-2.45, WHIP-0.955, IP-25, SO-23, HR9-0.
At the lower levels of the system, Oviedo, DellaValle, and Parsons are posting pretty good stats. I just wish I knew more about them.
