Woodford and Cabrera seem to be the next “great hopes” to be the guys who can move up to St Louis in the next couple years. Both have some stuff to work on to get there but the stuff is there.

I would have to throw Evan Kruczynski into that bunch. The 23 yo. 6’5″ lefty has been just great since his call up to AA. He has the stuff that can command games. His numbers are better than the ones at Adv-A and in his 3 starts at Springfield (small sample) his ERA .043 WHIP .071 his K rate is about 1K/IP only 3 walks the the 21.0 IP. He has gone 7.0 inns in each game.

He was one of two ’17 draftees sent to full-season ball (Peoria). At his present performance/progress he is definitely headed for the Memphis rotation in ’19.

I’d like to see Casadilla continue to improve. He started ’18 in the State College rotation for 2 games and then worked out of the Spikes BP in long relief during all of July. Aug 1st saw him in in a stretch out start for 4.1 inn. and a second the same length. Last time out (third start in Aug.) he went 7.0 inn and earned a 73 GS.

Is Gorman’s defense a major concern or just something to keep an eye on?

    The latter, I think.

It’s early, but I think Gorman will stay at 3rd. If he makes the bigs, he will also have to change his current number, as 4 is likely not available in the future. In wonder if they have different numbers at different stops in the minor league system. I would guess no.

No, players do not keep the same uniform numbers through the system.
