Memphis vs. Iowa – 7:05 pm CT, Genesis Cabrera (1-2, 7.06)
Springfield vs. NW Arkansas – 7:10 pm CT, Harold Arauz (0-2, 8.44)
Palm Beach at Bradenton (2) – 5:00 pm ET, Perry DellaValle (1-2, 2.25)/TBA
Peoria at South Bend – 6:35 pm CT, Jacob Schlesener (0-3, 14.40).May 10, 2019 at 10:33 am #9034814NyquisT
ParticipantToday there are three starters with hefty ERAs that need to turn it around quickly or jeopardize their rotation spots. Schlesener will be starting his fourth game and has only gotten through the fourth once. In his six appearances = 10.0inn and 21 BBs and he has everyone more than disappointed.
Cabrera’s and Arauz’ starts have been very mediocre. A good outing for both would give them a shot at a solid turnaround. To date… more disappointment.
Dellavalle hasn’t been dominant except for that 4/17 game that he managed 8inns of no run ball. PB-Cards lost the game to Lakeland 1-0 in the bottom of the ninth. The “TBA” for the second game of the Thurs. make- up might just be a bullpen started game. Palm Beach has Sunday off.
Parsons is in line for his second Adv-A start on Sat. His first was a disaster.
May 10, 2019 at 10:43 am #90352Cabrera was off to a rough start, but is improving, with his last start his best yet. Unless they change their plans for him and make him a reliever, his starting berth is likely not in jeopardy. Remember that he is 22 years old with almost no Triple-A experience.
DellaValle has a 2.25 ERA, a .237 batting average against, a 28-to-4 K to BB ratio, and has averaged six innings per start, but has gotten almost no run support. If he had any, he would be 5-1, instead of 1-2. That is pretty darned good pitching, as far as I am concerned.
May 10, 2019 at 4:36 pm #90362Why did Fagalde come out after 2 innings? Hope he’s not hurt.
May 10, 2019 at 4:49 pm #9036427, last night’s game was suspended in the middle of the third inning. Fagalde wasn’t expected to pitch again today when they resumed.
By the way, those who are frustrated that most of the Florida State League teams do not telecast on MiLB.TV, be aware that Bradenton does. That is the good news. The bad news is that PB is down 4-0 through six in Game 1 and have just three hits.
May 10, 2019 at 8:43 pm #90389Sounds like Cabrera had a start sort of like Hudson’s last one. They left him in and he worked through it. No offense for the Redbirds yet tonight, though.
After a rocky first three innings, Genesis Cabrera blanks the Cubs in his final three frames.
He retired eight of the final nine he faced and finishes with nine Ks.
B6: Iowa 7, Memphis 0.

May 10, 2019 at 10:58 pm #90407Schlesener walked seven, hit a batter, threw a wild pitch and took an error on a bad pickoff throw. He was pulled at 89 pitches (just 40 strikes) in 3 2/3 innings. Amazingly, he allowed just two runs.
May 11, 2019 at 8:18 am #90426The #stlcards system was 0-4 on Friday, with one of two Palm Beach games rained out. Our Player of the Day is third baseman and no. 1 prospect Nolan Gorman, who hit his league leading 8th home run on his 19th birthday in Peoria’s loss at South Bend. https://t.co/ecz4RfEx2O pic.twitter.com/CInLGQDWqD

ParticipantPretty rough Friday for the boys. Today will be better…. much better chance with some very good starters on the mound.
