Gorman went 4-5 with two doubles and Yepez 3-4 with a double of his own in the early game. Will the Memphis bash brothers be at it again in the 2nd game of the twin bill?

As always, you’re right on the mark, StlCard25. In game 2, Gorman finds himself riding the pines for a little breather, while Juan “Pez” Yepez continues to undress Gwinnett Stripper pitching…..this time by belting a towering 2 run 1st inning tater to get Memphis off and running. They now play in the 4th in a 2-2 ballgame. Stay tuned sports fans.

Yepez is the clear choice of player of the month for August. As far as Burleson goes I am thinking he is tiring from his first professional season. He should rebound soon. His approach is solid, with good power, and above average hit tool. It cannot be forgotten that he started at Peoria, and has progressed to the MLB teamsdoorstep.

Hudson pitches 2 2/3 scoreless innings at Springfield that leads to a10-1 win. Watching Hudson pitch, and throwing in the low 90s, maybe he can yet help this season. That being said, he is still a ways from helping the big league club.

Yet I still do not understand how prospects like Gorman and Walker do not play everyday. Given the fact that most minor leagues do play on Mondays, I don’t understand why they are given days off, unless struggling or battling lingering injuries. The number at bats or pitches can only help their development. Plus, the fans, like myself, largely come to minor league to see high draft picks and too prospects.

Sometimes players have minor injuries we don’t know about and they are not available on a given day. Communication about injuries is far less open than MLB.

I think I was able to glean through the stats and find that Gorman has made only one error at 2B in Memphis. If so, that’s a very solid mark that speaks to how well he’s taken to the position.

Why not. Wainwright throws low 90s.

Really nice to see Oviedo’s outing last night in the shortened Memphis game.
    3 2/3, 2 hits, 0 runs, 3Ks, and only 1 walk.

Also nice to see Perez have a 3 hit game.
He’s hanging in there at Springfield.

Masyn Winn pitched an inning for Peoria this evening. 0 H, 0 BB, 1 SO

Sometime shortly after Winn signed in 2020, there was a video going around of Winn throwing a few pitches as a pitcher. It was impressive. Lots of movement. That’s when the talk got started about Winn becoming a two-way player. If the Cardinals sign a shortstop this coming offseason, no doubt Winn will get more opportunities to pitch.

I wonder what Winn’s preference is.
