September 1, 2021 at 8:15 am #171341Runs were scarce across the #stlcards minor league system on Tuesday, as the group scored just 12 runs while losing all six games. Two clubs were shut out. TCN Player of the Day Logan Gragg pitched Peoria into a position to win before a pen letdown. (free) https://t.co/hOEoeNbboK pic.twitter.com/EAdUIZ6QhC

DSL Red vs. Mets2, 10:30 am ETSeptember 2, 2021 at 7:57 pm #171486Gorman went 4-5 with two doubles and Yepez 3-4 with a double of his own in the early game. Will the Memphis bash brothers be at it again in the 2nd game of the twin bill?
September 2, 2021 at 9:03 pm #171492As always, you’re right on the mark, StlCard25. In game 2, Gorman finds himself riding the pines for a little breather, while Juan “Pez” Yepez continues to undress Gwinnett Stripper pitching…..this time by belting a towering 2 run 1st inning tater to get Memphis off and running. They now play in the 4th in a 2-2 ballgame. Stay tuned sports fans.
September 2, 2021 at 11:57 pm #171493Yepez is the clear choice of player of the month for August. As far as Burleson goes I am thinking he is tiring from his first professional season. He should rebound soon. His approach is solid, with good power, and above average hit tool. It cannot be forgotten that he started at Peoria, and has progressed to the MLB teamsdoorstep.
September 3, 2021 at 12:26 am #171496Hudson pitches 2 2/3 scoreless innings at Springfield that leads to a10-1 win. Watching Hudson pitch, and throwing in the low 90s, maybe he can yet help this season. That being said, he is still a ways from helping the big league club.
Yet I still do not understand how prospects like Gorman and Walker do not play everyday. Given the fact that most minor leagues do play on Mondays, I don’t understand why they are given days off, unless struggling or battling lingering injuries. The number at bats or pitches can only help their development. Plus, the fans, like myself, largely come to minor league to see high draft picks and too prospects.
September 3, 2021 at 5:39 am #171505Sometimes players have minor injuries we don’t know about and they are not available on a given day. Communication about injuries is far less open than MLB.
September 3, 2021 at 6:35 am #171509I think I was able to glean through the stats and find that Gorman has made only one error at 2B in Memphis. If so, that’s a very solid mark that speaks to how well he’s taken to the position.
September 3, 2021 at 8:13 am #171527The #stlcards minor league system was 5-4 on Thursday, led by Memphis’ road twin bill sweep. The Cardinal Nation Player of the Day Juan Yepez was a factor in both wins and teammate Nolan Gorman had four hits in Game 1. (free) https://t.co/GA76VJSLZH pic.twitter.com/cNxo6q1zsK

Why not. Wainwright throws low 90s.

FCL and DSL offSeptember 5, 2021 at 10:49 pm #171742Masyn Winn pitched an inning for Peoria this evening. 0 H, 0 BB, 1 SO
Sometime shortly after Winn signed in 2020, there was a video going around of Winn throwing a few pitches as a pitcher. It was impressive. Lots of movement. That’s when the talk got started about Winn becoming a two-way player. If the Cardinals sign a shortstop this coming offseason, no doubt Winn will get more opportunities to pitch.
September 6, 2021 at 8:01 am #171749bccranParticipantI wonder what Winn’s preference is.
