Interesting they are not listing Liberatore at Memphis tonight…

Libby did not look good last night!

However, once again Woodford was dominant!

Why the heck is he not back up..?

It would be nice to have the stolen base capability of Scott and Antico in a lineup, for sure. Would put a lot of pressure on opposing batteries.

Hey Brian, do you know what the plan is for Woodford? Seems like he has had a few too many rehab assignments, and has been pitching very well…? Wondering if he will get back up or maybe they are going to move on from him via trade or ….? any idea.?

They can’t trade him right now anyway. We’re past the trade deadline. He’s just doing rehab and will either join the team before his 30 rehab days are up (most likely) or he’ll be optioned to AAA. I’d bet that he joins the mlb team once he’s rested up from this last start or he potentially sees one more start and 4 days of rest afterwards before joining.

Good answer J. I hope they bring him back now and let him re-accustom to the long reliever role, which seems to suit him best. As he is younger and more controllable than several of the other guys who are currently on the roster… (Barnes,Lawrence,Suarez…)

I agree Lee. If the Cards do keep Woodford this offseason, then I think long reliever needs to be his home next year. Someone needs to hold that role and there’s not much of a reason to invest much money in it. Plus, Woodford has a decent track record in that role.

I look for Drew Rom to potentially usurp him in that role if Woodford gets injured next year. But the jury is still out on Drew. He could make it as a spot starter.

Thanks all. I agree jnevel, Woodford excelled in the long role… Rom had 1 bad outing and 1 good outing, the verdict is still certainly out for him…and not sure about Hels-bells…? seems as though something is still not right in his arm..?

Mo needs to move on from sore arm pitchers. It has proven to be a losing bet.

As soon as I throw some shade on McGreevy on another thread he shines. Anyone else I need to be trashing?

It’s a shame there is no Cards game or minor league games today. Even as crappy as the Cards are.

It looks like Hence is scheduled Wednesday the 6th. Are we getting concerned that maybe he is trying to push through an injury? Or maybe worn down? He’s only at 82 IP, but that’s more than he had last season. Hopefully organizational need isn’t going to push him up next season before he gets a handle on AA and builds up endurance, if that is an issue. I feel like one of Mo’s objectives should be bringing in whatever upper level help we need to let pitchers have time in level as needed.
