DSL Red vs. Phillies White, 10:30 ETAugust 24, 2021 at 9:37 pm #170632Memphis pounced on Columbus with an 8 spot in the bottom of the 1st and it’s holding up, as they play in the 6th inning in southern Tennessee in an 8-2 Memphis ballgame. Gorman with a towering 2 run blow to set the stage for the 8 run outburst. Springfield getting it handed to them in northwest Arkansas this evening by the ungodly score of 18-1 in the 6th. McGovern got absolutely lit up in his two innings of hard labor, yielding 11 runs …..now that’s not a Roman numeral for 2…… you’re seeing it correctly….eleven runs all earned on eleven hits. Walker has gone yard in Peoria’s game this evening at Dozer Park, in a game that’s shaping up to be a Chiefs loss to the cubbies affiliate.
August 24, 2021 at 9:43 pm #170635Well, Pugs, the Peoria game is delayed and may not be completed with the rains that have come through the area.
August 24, 2021 at 9:49 pm #170637bccranParticipantPugs – 18 runs on 20 hits in only 6 innings. Ouch..
August 24, 2021 at 10:20 pm #170642I think it’s still an official game, Forschster. Both the Chiefs loss and the Walker dinger should go in the books.
“Ouch” is right, Cranny. Those 18 runs in only 6 innings is about a week’s worth of offense for our Cards.
August 25, 2021 at 7:34 am #170654bccranParticipantKevin McGovern started for Springfield and gave up 11 runs on 11 hits in 2 innings. Kevin is a 32 year old who had only pitched in
Independent League ball before being signed by the Cards this year and sent to Springfield. Wow. Have we reached the bottom of the barrel?August 25, 2021 at 7:44 am #170655Gorman’s HR was his 20th of the year, and he’s seemed to have adjusted to AAA pitching. Good to see. I think he’s the starting 2B by June of next year.
August 25, 2021 at 7:50 am #170656bccranParticipantI agree, 25. He may even win the job in ST.
August 25, 2021 at 9:25 am #170670In seven Tuesday games across the #stlcards system, Memphis took the lone win behind big performances by Nolan Gorman, Scott Hurst and Matthew Liberatore. August 28, 2021 at 8:22 pm #1710381982 willieParticipantGood night for Hudson. Still long way to go. I’m wondering if the cardinals are going to try to bring him up this year just for a start. I hope not. I’d rather see him just get himself right for next season.
August 28, 2021 at 9:33 pm #171065The hope is to activate Hudson this season as a reliever. He would return to starting in 2022.
August 28, 2021 at 10:19 pm #1710831982 willieParticipantWell Brian I hope he doesn’t get hurt or else it was a bad gamble. If he stays down and waits til next season and gets hurt, you can say you took all precautions. Bringing him up in September even for relief poses a lot of questions if it doesn’t work out. In my mind it would be like somebody needs to go questions if that happens.
August 28, 2021 at 10:44 pm #171085I guess it gets down to trust in the Cardinals medical staff. There is also a line of thinking that Hudson could pitch better next season because he got his feet wet this year.
August 28, 2021 at 10:49 pm #171086“Pez” also throttled a 3 run blast later on giving him 19 homers on the campaign, StlCard25. That’s 7 rbi tonight for Mr. Yepez. Very good sign that he seems to be strengthening as the season moves along. Oh, and Gorman drilled a solo 4-bagger too…..his only hit in 5 ab’s.
