I wonder how Memphis rotation will shake out with the prospects we traded for added, and Thomas’s return. I am guessing Thomas will to the bullpen.

Considering Thomas did not have a rehab stint anywhere, he would almost have to be in the pen for a while unless they use him as an opener. Here are the other Memphis starters I have on the Roster Matrix:

    McGreevy
    Graceffo
    Lawrence
    Robberse
    Kloffenstein
    Rom

Now it seems pretty clear why Gragg was sent back to Springfield…

Lin and Odle made their FCL debuts today. Lin pitched 2 innings, gave up a run on 2 hits, and struck out 3. Odle displayed wildness that scouts talked about. He allowed a run and 2 walks in an inning.

Curious how much these 2 pitch, as Odle didn’t have many innings. Lin I cannot recall how much action he saw this season.

What’s with former pitcher of the month Roy Garcia?

Yesterday with SPR. 0.1 IP, 4 H, 2 BB, 5 ER ? He had a similar outing on July 23. Other than those two, he’s been pretty unhittable like in A level.

He got put in the closer role last night because Granillo wasn’t available. It looked like he was just rattled in an uncomfortable role for him at this level.

Thanks for that observation J. He has moved up agressively this year so, yeah, he could have growing pains. Hopefuly he learns to stop the bleeding. Does he have high leverage experience from A level to build on or is it a new role?

Roy certainly closed some of the time in A ball. I haven’t watched much of him though so I don’t really have an opinion other than he’s seemed like there are a lot of times where he does great and a few times like this where the wheels have just fallen off completely. Granillo is a bit the same where his few bad games have been really bad. But I think Granillo is the better of the two and I see him at the back and end of the MLB bullpen at some point next year. Out of all the relievers in our system, including Loutos or Zuniga, Granillo is the one I’m most confident will be our future closer or setup man.

I have a beef with Baseball Reference. When I search William Sullivan, it puuls up a guy who played for the St. Louis Maroons in 1884. (For anyone wondering, the Maroons played at a stadium located at the northeasr corner or Jefferson and Cass, now part of the site of the under construction National Geospacial Intelligence Agency campus in St. Louis)

Anyway, his name seems to pop up on Brian’s standouts article so he must be doing well.

Sullivan hasn’t shown power or walked much, but he is hitting .345 in the early going. (To give credit where due, the daily Minor League Notebooks are written by Luke Kotcher and Marilyn Green. I just publish and publicize them.)

The pitcher from East Carolina is awful.

Not sure why the Cardinals continue to humor that scout that keeps drafting players out of East Carolina.

I think the selection of Alec Burleson in 2020 was exceptional…
