Dissapointed once again that Hence was not allowed more than 60 pitches and 4 innings. When do we get to see him stretched out further? Btw, there was something very foggy about the camera the Chiefs used on MILBTV. I hope they replace it.
If Mautz keeps pitching like his first outing, he may be a fast mover. It will be interesting to see Hjerpe pitch tonight also.

To be honest, I had to look up Thomas Francisco. 19th round, 1st baseman. He needs to start hitting homers. Last year 6 in 90 games. Good luck to him.
I got sidetracked by Francisco earlier and forgot to look into what I originally meant to, which is Hjerpe’s debut start. I’m surprised they got three hits, including a homer, off him in 3 innings. I figured that sidearm from the left might be unhittable at this level. Its not, but there was a lot of swing and miss too, and a lot of walks, and A ball hitters tend to swing at anything close. We will see how things go.
Hudson got hit around a little, but at least he was over the plate. It can take some guys longer to come back from TJ, but if he isn’t looking like his old self by later this season, then this isn’t going to turn out like we hoped.

Hi All,
Looking for some clarification on the Peoria Game on Friday night?? Is a passed ball on a third strike basically like a ground ball to the infield? In the 9th with two outs and men on 2nd and 3rd, Victor Scott II swung at a third strike but the ball was missed by the catcher allowing the runner from 3rd to score. However, Scott II never ran down to 1st so the catcher retrieved the ball and threw to 1st, ending the inning. I was thinking that the runner scored before the out on a passed ball so it counted, but it was not scored that way. Peoria ended up giving up a run in the 10th and lost the game.
Is a passed ball on a third strike basically like a ground ball to the infield?
In the play you described, they are treated the same. Here is the MLB rule:
5.08 (a) One run shall be scored each time a runner legally advances to and touches first, second, third and home base before three men are put out to end the inning.
EXCEPTION: A run is not scored if the runner advances
to home base during a play in which the third out is made
(1) by the batter-runner before he touches first base; (2) by any runner being forced out; or (3) by a preceding runner
who is declared out because he failed to touch one of the
bases.
