Now 7-6. It’s a walk fest. Although Cards 2019 international signing Jose Davila just relieved Beiler in the first, and looks promising despite giving up a run. Davila regularly hits 94-96 on his fastball, and flashes a plus curveball. Say hello to a new top 50 arm. This is his debut.

Beller gave up 4 walks and 2 hits and didn’t get out of the 1st. Really disappointing.

System wide, our pitching is truly hideous. I know pitchers probably struggle with the long layoff more than hitters, but it’s really, really bad. At this point it looks like the cupboard is very bare. Perhaps some of the potential will turn into results as the season goes on but it’s tough to see other teams putting up football scores on our staffs regularly.

I wonder if Nootbaar goes on the DL, if Plummer or Burleson would replace him on the roster. I hope it’s a minor thing, as Nootbaar is hitting his best stride. I would almost like Plummer to stay at Springfield, as he has re-emerged as a most improved player. I guess Toerner is a possibility also, but he has hardly done anything at AA yet.
