Memphis vs. Louisville: Zack Thompson 6:45
Springfield vs. NW Arkansas: Kyle Leahy 7:05
Peoria vs. Quad Cities: Michael YaSenka 6:35
Palm Beach vs. St. Lucie: John Beller (vs. Jacob deGrom) 5:30May 20, 2021 at 7:27 am #161802
stlcard25ParticipantTough luck for the Beach Birds to get stuck facing MLB pitchers (and one ace of aces) back to back days. Why would the Mets send DeGrom to low A? Must be all the upper levels are far away? Suffice to say, if the youngsters score any runs at all it will be a big win.

ParticipantIt’ll be great for some low A kid if he gets a hit off deGrom. Even if he never makes it to the majors, it’ll be something he can tell his kids and grandkids about someday.

Likely because he was already there as their pitchers are rehabbing at their Florida base.
May 20, 2021 at 12:09 pm #161814Last night's suspended game vs. the Naturals is scheduled to resume tonight at 5:15 p.m. in the top of the 7th inning.
Thursday's originally scheduled Cardinals vs. @nwanaturals game will begin approximately 30 minutes following the completion of Game 1.https://t.co/dF1MI1XVMv

ParticipantHow about this line for Beller tonight –
5.1 IP
7 H
5 ER
2 Ws
10 KsNow that’s weird.
May 20, 2021 at 11:38 pm #161846And Beiler struck out 12 his last outing. I am curious to watch him pitch. At the very least he might be a Loogy. LH hitters are hitting .150 against him, with 12 Ks in 20 ABs.

stlcard25ParticipantDeGrom, as expected, dominated the young Birds. 3 innings and 0 hits, 0 walks and 8 Ks. The only one to even put the ball in play was Masyn Winn, who reached on a throwing error.
May 21, 2021 at 7:17 am #161854The #stlcards system went 2-1 on Thursday with more rain in Springfield. Player of the Day Irving Lopez’ pinch-hit, bases-clearing double gave Memphis its second consecutive walk-off celebration. (free) https://t.co/lPLtjd1KOI pic.twitter.com/BR87SkFzFQ

ParticipantJacob Buchberger put the ball in play against deGrom as well, ground out to the 3rd baseman.
May 21, 2021 at 9:07 am #161857DeGrom is currently the best pitcher in all of MLB. That had to be a real thrill for those Palm Beach guys. They will always remember it.
May 21, 2021 at 11:40 am #161865The Memphis win was controversial, as it appeared Lopez’ hit should have been ruled a ground rule double. But instead of having second and third in a tie game with no one out, the umpires huddled and ruled it was a walk off win. But we’ll take it.
May 21, 2021 at 11:51 am #161867I think Springfield will right their ship. The addition of Burleson makes their lineup deeper. and their pitching should be pretty good. They may have to move Leahy and Seijas out of the rotation, as they have been weak links so far. I see Walsh and Ralston joining the rotation down the road if struggles continue.
