The promotions of Gurevitch and RRodriguez are sure to mean other moves. Springfield already has a bunch of Cs on the roster none of whom have shown much this season, meaning RRod moves right in.. This move might give Sammy Hernandez more playing time for the Chiefs, (He has also had many games at 1st). Presently Peoria has Kross and McGeev as backups but there’s a chance Heath may get moved up. The Gurevitch move can free up Kross to get more action behind the plate.

I was looking for the FCL Cards box score and saw this doozy of a game. 28 runs on 18 hits, 11 walks, and 7 errors. Baltimore must have had some little league kids out there.

Wow, strong performances by Doyle and Franklin last night. They both seem to be on track again. The last 2 starts Doyle’s secondaries have looked much bettter. Kind of wondering about about Clemente. 7 Ks in 3 1/3 innings. I thought I read that he is among our minor leaguers harder throwers. Any chance he could be stretched out as a starter? I always thought he might be fastball only pitcher.

Great to see Rodriguez get off to a fast start at Springfield. He has to be our number 1 prospect now that Wetherholt has graduated.

Mendoza is an under the radar kind of prospect. His bat has improved a lot the last few years. While he may only be a utility guy, he could be valuable if we get an infielder injured. Plus he has a little pop and is right handed. It might take a couple injuries, as Prieto is already on the roster, and Jordan could be added in that scenario as well.

27, Clemente cant throw strikes and has at best 30 grade control but really more 20. He has a big fastball but he doesn’t have enough control to be a big league RP at this point and I don’t think he would have any chance of being a SP. He normally is a 1 inning guy but I guess they left him in for bulk last night.

Mendoza has been doing well and Kyle has been talking a lot about him as an under the radar guy. He could be a useful utility type guy.

Doyle is probably better off having struggled to start as he was working in his offspeed pitches. Hopefully they will let him pitch deeper though to build up more length. It really feels like the org is going toward 4 inning starts with multiple guys. I kind of hope MLB reduced pitchers per roster to 12 in the CBA to help nip that in the bud and force teams to favor some SP length.

Good to see Mathew Miura debuting this season as he starts a rehab assignment today in the FCL.

I’m excited by Payton Graham being promoted to Palm Beach. He was a top 100 draft prospect till he got Tommy John, so might be an interesting possibility for us.
