The organization is having a problem trying to put together a rotation for Palm Beach (A). Since Odle and Van Dyke were sent up to A+ in May I count 9 roster pitchers trying to fill that void. HJerpe and Robberse have rehabbed there adding some relief but the rest of the group are just bullpen starts and trials.

Graham has gotten 8 starts and Holiday six and they have been inconsistent. Dutkanych is getting his chance now after coming off of the 60-IL stint. Only Crossland and JMartinez have been able to answer the call when their spot came up during this season. All of this must be due to the lack of solid pitching prospects at the lowest levels of the organization and will likely effect the upper levels as time goes by unless there is some help from upstairs.

Graham, Holiday and Dutkanych were all injured coming into the season. It takes time to come back from TJS.

Cho and Baez since being promoted decided who needs singles when all your hits can be HRs

Meanwhile, in the second half, Peoria is just 6-11. Can’t replace the lost offense and the pitching is slipping.

When the daily standouts are a number of our top 20 prospects, you think it’s a decent day. 1-4 isn’t so great.

For the season to date, the system overall is 505-504. Right down the middle.

StL’s Pythagorean W-L is 46-46. Right down the middle.

Cijntje’s gone at least 6 ip 4 times this year, but in three of his last four starts. In those three he’s gone 18 ip, 10 h, 3 r, 3 er, 6 bb, 23 k, 1.50 ERA. Now three starts ago he had a clunker, but hopefully the other three are the signal here. He’d walked 34 in his other 62.1 ip.

    Agreed. Encouraging signs.

Speaking of encouraging signs from a Springfield pitcher…

I love the much anticipated debut of Clarke. Some scouts thought his blisters might have been the cause of his control trouble. Peoria will eventually a great addition to their rotation.

It worth remembering that Clarke is 23 years old and his post high school baseball playing history consists of 74 innings in JUCO and 38 innings in A level ball.
