I like seeing Cho moved up. We will get a better chance to see if the changes made this year are for real or not. You’d typically like seeing the lefty move into the more friendly environment at Springfield. Baez, I’m not as sure that I like the move. But he has hit for some power this year and perhaps the challenge will be good for him.

While it’s not likely they’d be taken, both Jesus Baez and Cho will be Rule 5 eligible this fall. I’d imagine they’d both play in the AFL.

This Rojas is another interesting catching prospect. He is putting up good numbers for our DSL team.

Looking over the Peoria box score i see that both teams struck out 21 times, 42 total. This is beyond ridiculous. It has to be a record.

Peoria struck out 16 more times tonight.

Can someone explain to me several things about the Memphis game tonight

    Why did Shuster start tonight?
Why did they call up Savacool again from Peoria? He is looking the Cards want him to fail. Is there no one worthy of call up from Springfield? I would have thought Findlay or Watson maybe? I think both of them might be able to pitch in the big leagues someday.

We’ve had a series of no hit outings by our prospects. Last night was Van Dykes 5 innings of no,hit ball. Previously Lin and Odle had 6 innings each.

Thanks for the observations, 27. Its hard to keep on top of all the goings on. Somebody told me a few days ago Hence had an 8 pitch outing, 2 grounders and a pop up, but he didn’t come back out for the next inning. I follow him but had missed that altogether.

27 – Shuster started in place of Mautz because it is likely Mautz gets called up to start a big league game soon. To replace Mautz, they decided no one was ready so they called up Savacool as a placeholder. Guys that are part of or who at least could be part of the long term plan if they perform don’t get called up until they are ready.

Given that last night’s game got postponed, they may not need to call up Mautz now – at least not yet – so it may have all been for naught but better to be safe just in case.

I wonder if they are considering demoting or moving Liberatoreto the bullpen?

Luna and Carrion still aren’t playing. Last year Strop barely played either. It is a little frustrating that the top money guys they sign apparently are getting hurt.

Molina was outstanding tonight. He has pitched the longest outings of the year of any of our prospects, 6 2/3, twice in a row. That change up of his is a game changer. And he has not walked batters like other top pitching prospects.

A really good start by Molina. He pitched deep in the game and was only at 90 pitches.

Quinn’s ERA is okay, but he just keeps walking too many and isn’t throwing enough strikes overall. Maybe he can find what he had for those 2 starts earlier this month.

Is Sebastian Rojas the next DSL breakout? Funny I went and googled him to see what his signing bonus was and if he was in the BA list of notable signins and I saw Kareem had the same thought yesterday about Rojas breaking out.

Rojas signed for $450,000 according to BA. He also was on their standouts this DSL listing and was noted for good defense.

    BA

Rojas is one of the better defensive catchers in the DSL this year with his receiving skills, quick feet and plus arm

Rojas tied for the third largest signing bonus as reported from this year’s signing class.

There is a Luna update on the Members forum.

LOL. Won-Bin Cho has three hits at Springfield.

    They are all home runs.

Watching the minor leaguers like I do, I really like seeing improvement. Richard son’s improved pop has been noted. But y’all need to check out Weingartner and Smith for Palm Beach. They have had great months of June. Smith was thrown in on the Sonny Gray trade. He started out slowly, as he has little professional experience. But he can be an OBP machine. All 3 mentioned above have shown improvement.
