My newest bold prediction is that on September 15 we will reach 75 pages on the Burleson and Saggese threads.

    Haha…That’s a conservative prediction!

I guess we start the season 10 – 20, which is not too horrible, given the schedule. It is how we react to that that sets the tone for the rest of the season.

All these predictions about rookies playing at near all-star levels are far-fetched. Look what happened to Walker last year. 12 game hitting streak to start his big league career, then hits something like .237. That is the norm. There aren’t very many Albert Puljols type guys around, and none on this roster.

Remember, only one player can win ‘rookie of the year’. How can we have four or five of them on our roster?

They started last season at 10-20 Lou, and the season was effectively over before the start of June. If they’re 10 under after the first 30 games again this season, the tone will be set for an outbreak of mutinous action…

My prediction is they finish maybe 5 games better than last year but it wouldn’t surprise me if they finish about the same. Hopefully I’m wrong. I’m not good at predicting

I still think we are a .500 ballclub or slightly better. We knew the opening couple of weeks was going to be very difficult with our tough schedule and injury problems. If we can survive April close to .500 we can still salvage the season.

The Cardinals are going to need a surprise effective starting pitcher to emerge out their system. Someone to give them some quality starts. Quality starts like Rom had last season against Baltimore.

There are too many hopes and dreams placed on the shoulders of the present rotation. All of them will have to overachieve and better their expectations. I just don’t think that that is going to happen….. it could but it will be beating the odds at too many places. I’m not expecting much of an increase in wins.

We need much more than quality starts. We need to win those games in which we get a a quality start, and do so in 9 innings.
Until Helsley shows he has regained his elite closer form, we should go with save by committee.

The bullpen was supposed to be the strength of this team. We really need for that to happen to make up for our other shortcomings. Hopefully last night was just a hiccup for Helsley.

If we get mlb avg pitching we WILL win the division, we just have to be legit buyers at the deadline.

We’re a .500 club w/2 games to go vs Marlins. The roster is humming along at about 75 percentile but we will be adding our ace and best LH batter very soon.

    Hang in there boys!
