Why am I thinking of Shane Robinson?
March 9, 2024 at 6:39 pm #243589I don’t think they would promote Scott to be a bench player. Especially with no Triple-A experience, he needs to play. Another problem with bringing him up now is that he would have to go down to Memphis when Edman is healthy. This also would start his clock earlier than planned. Then there is the question of whether or not he is ready for MLB in the first place. His spring OPS is in the upper .600s.
None are complete showstoppers, but they are all factors. Add them up and I still think for the short term they would use Siani instead. BTW, the latter has a .900 OPS so far this spring, second highest among Cards with at least 15 at-bats. Scott’s OPS is more than 200 points lower.
But Scott is the hot new sizzle guy so many fans are pulling for him. They’ll also be the first ones to turn on him as being a fluke and a bomb if he doesn’t produce immediately. Then two or three years down the road, the second guessers will criticize the FO for ruining him by bringing him up too soon. Been there, seen that…
March 9, 2024 at 7:34 pm #243590I don’t see a scenario where Scott starts the season here. Rightfully so.
March 10, 2024 at 8:41 am #243596You mean, Shane Robinson, MLB Spring Training Batting Champion of 2013 (.438)!
If he could have hit in the regular season like he did every spring, Shane would have been a perennial All-Star.
He would have been the perfect answer to the current need…
March 10, 2024 at 12:27 pm #243610I’m not saying Scott should be promoted. In fact I don’t think he should be. I am just saying that it wouldn’t surprise me if the Cardinals did it. So far camp has been surrounded by dark clouds. Gray hurt, Edman hurt, Noot hurt, Lynn, Gibson, and Matz not impressive so far, last team to hit a HR, etc… Not to mention that the first couple of weeks of the schedule will be brutal against good teams. I could just see the front office throwing Scott out there as the opening day CF to try to generate some buzz and excitement. It wouldn’t be the right decision but that doesn’t mean they won’t do it.
March 10, 2024 at 12:30 pm #243612While stressing he wants to prioritize defense over "chasing offense" when it comes to his starting outfield, #STLCards manager Oli Marmol was asked if there was a path to MLB for Victor Scott II.
Oli: “We’re going to continue to throw him out there and see what it looks like.”

The main problem with the above quote is that Denton is asking the wrong person. Oli won’t be making that decision.
March 30, 2024 at 6:11 pm #245637April 7, 2024 at 5:01 pm #247031It sounds like Noot will be activated for Monday’s game. Who will head out or go on the IL?
I am thinking if Contreras is ready maybe it will be Pages.
No telling how long that pesky oblique strain will be bothering Carp. At his age, he could take a really long time to heal. Really long.
April 11, 2024 at 1:07 pm #247551The move is official. Nootbaar activated, Pages optioned out.
April 11, 2024 at 1:39 pm #247555So VS dos gets a reprieve
