The Cardinals might be taking a flyer that Roby can do what Chris Carpenter did – come back from injury and be a stud. Guess it is worth a shot since Monty was likely gone after this year anyway, and we are not going anywhere but golfing at the end of the regular season.
I agree there is nothing wrong with taking a flyer on a guy in this case.
This is my beef. He is a pitcher with a bum shoulder and a history of elbow trouble, all before he even gets to AAA. He can produce good results at the cost of tearing up his arm. Can he get anyone out without tearing up his arm? Nobody knows, and it seems like maybe we would want to know before deciding he is a top prospect.
