I take the Shildt hire back. Looks like he’s burned out, which is the last thing we need. Let’s hire Albert and Yadi before the Angels get them.
October 15, 2025 at 2:31 pm #294335This could also have gone in the Former Cardinals in the News thread…
Add Nick Punto's name to the list of #MNTwins' managerial candidates. More on him and the others here. Story w/ @dennistlin. https://t.co/7jx1cFA3yL

October 15, 2025 at 8:36 pm #294354The Orioles have expressed interest in Albert Pujols for their manager vacancy, sources tell me and @JeffPassan. …https://t.co/Kf38NHAYr2

October 15, 2025 at 8:56 pm #294357I’m not sure I see why so many teams are lining up to hire Pujols to manage. This isn’t college – there is very, very little recruiting and that’s limited to a few free agents.
I guess it’d be like hiring Ted Williams or Stan Musial to manage….You get a big name in the dugout – whatever that turns out to be worth.
October 15, 2025 at 11:30 pm #294361May be impressed with his work with the DR team in winter ball he took to a title, they had a pretty young team….also the Orioles President of Baseball was a scout with the Cardinals when
Pujols played in St. LouisOctober 18, 2025 at 6:03 pm #294510Are the Giants seriously going to hire that college coach from Tennessee as their next manager???
Huge mistake…….
October 19, 2025 at 10:41 am #294527If Pujols gets a managerial job somewhere, you wonder if he will bring Yadi on as his bench coach.
October 20, 2025 at 11:19 am #294582The Mang is a hot candidate.

October 20, 2025 at 11:54 am #294584No go in LA…
https://t.co/yJ6A6EkoYI Angels and alltime great Albert Pujols end talks; he’s still in play with Padres and reportedly Orioles, too @nypostsports

October 20, 2025 at 9:26 pm #294607The Angels have informed Torii Hunter, one of the most popular players in franchise history, that he no longer is in the running for their vacant managerial job.
The Angels earlier told Albert Pujols that he no longer was being considered.

Scratch the Angels opening as they are going with Kurt Suzuki.
Edit: I didn’t see 1982 Willie’s post until after mine.
October 22, 2025 at 12:15 pm #294683The Giants hired the guy from Tennessee. I think his name is Vitello or something like that.
Huge mistake.
Wait and see.
October 22, 2025 at 12:48 pm #294691Max Scherzer on new Giants manager Tony Vitello, his former pitching coach at Missouri: “I absolutely believe in him. He’s to this day one of my closest friends and I absolutely believe he’s gonna get it done at the big league level.” https://t.co/UMsR3sj5GI

October 22, 2025 at 12:54 pm #294693Tony Vitello, who was earning $3.3 million annually with salary and benefits, will be taking a paycut to manage the Giants in his new deal. The Giants also still owe fired Bob Melvin $4 million in 2026. https://t.co/XSzu5KZu0c

October 22, 2025 at 1:12 pm #294698Vitello is an interesting cat. A very brash, outspoken guy. He has been a very good college coach but I don’t know how that will translate to MLB.
He was an assistant coach here at the U of Arkansas at one time and has had some epic games here as the visiting coach of Tennessee. The current coach here, Dave Van Horn, is expected to retire in the next couple of year and many in these parts have thought Vitello would be a logical replacement. If he flames out with the Giants I suppose it could happen.
October 26, 2025 at 9:01 pm #294898Looks like Albert missed out on another one.

October 27, 2025 at 11:32 am #294935The Angels not hiring Albert makes no sense to me but they are an incompetent organization.
October 27, 2025 at 11:36 am #294939Done deal.

October 30, 2025 at 4:48 pm #295145The Cardinals do not currently expect Yadier Molina to be a part of next year's coaching staff, but remain open to finding a role for Molina within the org. #STLCards

October 30, 2025 at 4:54 pm #295146Pujols had two interviews with the Padres already.
