Bob Melvin is out as manager of the Giants. He went 161-163 in his two seasons with San Francisco and missed the playoffs both years.
Will be interesting to see who is in the dugout for the Giants next year.
September 29, 2025 at 1:57 pm #293308The Giants have been at or near sea level since winning 107 regular season games in ’21. Placing Melvin in the soup line after only 2 seasons sends a clear message that a .500 W/L record is no where near good enough for that storied franchise. The Giants are entirely committed to winning baseball games…Plain and simple.
September 29, 2025 at 3:41 pm #293316And the Twins have fired Rocco Baldelli as well.
September 30, 2025 at 8:38 am #293358And the Rangers and Bruce Bochy have mutually agreed to part ways.
Saw an article about Bochy willing to talk to Buster Posey about a return to the Giants dugout.
September 30, 2025 at 8:42 am #293360Schumaker to replace Bochy in Dallas?
September 30, 2025 at 8:58 am #293364I changed the title of this thread to make it more inclusive.
September 30, 2025 at 1:07 pm #293381Yahoo/MLB reporting that Ron Washington will not be back with the Angels next year.
October 1, 2025 at 9:59 am #293414Yahoo/MLB now reporting that Snitker from the Braves will move into a front office/advisory role.
With all these openings I’d say Pugs has a chance at becoming a big league manager!
October 1, 2025 at 11:52 am #293423Just noting that John Mozeliak is a Colorado native and began his career with the Rockies…
The Colorado Rockies announced today that Bill Schmidt has stepped down from his role as general manager.

I’m too much of a softie, Rat…….though a team certainly could do worse. I would have all sorts of great ideas. For example, if the team ever found itself immersed in a terrible slump, I would definitely lighten the air by drawing that day’s batting order out of a Cards batting helmet. There’s a million things a skipper could do to kick-start a lethargic bunch.
October 1, 2025 at 11:56 am #293425Pugs is a modern Bill Veeck.
October 1, 2025 at 12:44 pm #293431According to Yahoo/MLB Albert Pujols is expected to interview for the Angels managerial opening.
The folks in Anaheim wouldn’t be that dumb, would they???
October 1, 2025 at 3:13 pm #293439The Rockies are parting ways with their general manager. Maybe Mo goes back to his original stomping grounds?
October 1, 2025 at 3:36 pm #293444Great read on the esteemed Mr. Veeck….thanks Brian! Yeah Bill knew how to keep his fan base happy and amused. These are professionals, so one can’t be a jokester all the time. But some properly timed gimmicks and fun events are what this once great game dearly misses.
October 3, 2025 at 7:59 pm #293614One filled.
The Texas Rangers have hired Skip Schumaker as their new manager. Schumaker, 45, was the National League Manager of the Year in 2023 and spent the last year as a special assistant with the Rangers. He takes over for future Hall of Famer Bruce Bochy.

October 3, 2025 at 8:32 pm #293617See above…I was sure that Skippy was “Schu-in”…
October 4, 2025 at 8:00 pm #293687I wish Skip well in Texas. Skip would have actually been my leading candidate to replace Marmol if the Cards got rid of him this year, but I did not expect them to do that.
October 10, 2025 at 7:17 pm #294052The Schumaker hire looks like a good one for the Dallas-Ft Worth ballclub.
A buddy of mine from our vintage baseball days is good friends with Mozeliak’s dad. I should call him to see if he has talked to Mo Sr on whether or not Little Mo is interested in running the show out here.
Probably not – if he thought DeWitt was cheap, wait until he tries to get anything out of Monfort.
October 11, 2025 at 2:30 pm #294094Sources: Alltime great Albert Pujols is the first choice of Angels/Arte Moreno to manage following positive meeting. They still need to work out contract but Pujols is expected to be given choice of coaches if they can finalize the $.

October 13, 2025 at 11:08 am #294203Holy Philosophical Differences, Batman!
He was under contract through 2027.
Mike Shildt retires as Padres managerhttps://t.co/WWhsNqHeoi

They just simply can’t be that stupid.
Nobody could be that dumb.
October 13, 2025 at 2:23 pm #294212Why do you think it is so dumb, Rats?
October 13, 2025 at 2:35 pm #294213Let’s hire Shildt back…..if he’ll have us. Yeah Rat, Albert may make a wonderful skipper. I would think Yadi would be one of his first coaching hires. I’ve felt for many years that Yadi would be one heck of a pitching coach.
