I would like Nick Dunn given a chance. Donovan is out for the year, Gorman May also be. I’d much rather see him given a chance instead of Mottar. Give a him reward for his years in the minors. He’s not a prospect, but could fill a utility role at second and third.

This Dunn kid has a long way to go before he supplants Manny Motter…Don’t rush him.

I’d like to see Richie Palacios given a little more run as well but that don’t mean it will happen.

Similar to 1TD’s like of guys named Manny, I have always liked guys named “Richie”. Despite that fact that Richie Allen always wanted to be called Dick, I think “Richie” is much cooler.

Lots of good Richie’s in baseball lore – besides Allen you have Richie Ashburn, Richie Zisk, Richie Hebner, Richie Scheinblum.

So needless to say, I am rooting for Richie Palacios to continue to shine and make himself a candidate for the 26 man roster in 2024.

It might have been one of the radio booth announcers I heard saying that Palacios has made a strong impression on Marmol and the staff by his effort and attitude during games and otherwise. Depending on how things go this winter, there could be a job opening for a CF capable 4th-5th outfielder. Assuming they don’t strap a jet pack on Scott and shoot him over AAA. Which they might, nothing would suprise me right now.

Haha!…Yeah Bikemike, you can’t miss with a player named either Manny or Willie and I’m with you on the preference for Richie! It sounds so much cooler and you forgot to mention Richie Havens and the greatest percussionist known to man…”Buddy Richie”… Now there’s two cool guys!

If Richie keeps hitting like this he’s not going anywhere! (This year)

I am not that excited about Palacios. He’s just another AAAA player on our roster. Scott, however, should be tested at AAA. A cup of coffee there, and part of a season at Memphis next year, and he may be ready for the bigs. I would also add Dunn and DFA Mottar.

Palacios is much like Woodford. I can’t get too excited over a few games.

Nicholas Dunn is far from done. Would love to see him make an impact with the big club. Fun seeing BicycleMike bring up the name Richie Zisk, as he was a dandy talent. My mother used to tell me of Richie’s brother Johnny, whom used to serenade my Aunt Christy back in the day. Johnny used to bring flowers and goodies to Aunt Christy and was pretty persistent in trying to date her while he was playing in some sort of league here in America’s Dairyland. But she never gave in and ended up marrying a cheese factory owner. I’ve always thought it would have been great fun rubbing elbows with Richie Zisk at family gatherings instead being bombarded with huge arrays of different cheeses.

He, I would with Nootbaar starting, Carlson as a backup outfielder. But I would most like to see Scott, if ready in center by mid year. He gives us speed, which we haven’t had in a long time.

Also trades for pitching will change our outfield as well.

Another prospect I like is Antico. Speed and a little pop. His only question is can he hit enough.

Great story, Pugs! Man, too bad your aunt did not take the plunge with one Johnny Zisk.

I still tend to call Disk Allen, “Richie”, as that is how I first remember him as a kid getting his baseball cards. For some reason Allen always said “Richie makes it sound like I am a little kid.” But a lot of other guys did not have a problem with it.

Willie might be the classic baseball name. There used to be a bunch of Willie’s playing, but it seems the name is no longer “cool”. These days society likes what are traditionally last names for first names – Jordan, Connor, Logan, Tyler, Nolan – that kind of thing.

Palacios may only be the flavor of the week but then again that is what we thought about Noot for awhile too. I say continue to play Richie everyday until he shows he can’t do it.

Depending on trades of course, Noot is the only guarantee in the OF in 2024. Edman also if he’s still on the team.

I have not watched more than a few clips, but Saggese is exciting. RH hitting Donovan?

Anyone able to discuss his glove?

Lots of middle infield roosters in the hen house…. Due to handedness and position I’d trade Walker for an ace over Gorman.

So would I, but I don’t think either one would bring what could be termed an ace without being augmented with at least one other player named Nootbar, Donovan, Edman, O’Neil or Carlson and probably even a third less established player. Top of the rotation SP’ers are not unlike a gallon of gasoline when all the service stations are empty in the sense that everyone’s in line and willing to overpay for that last gallon.

I don’t move either Walker or Gorman. They have the look of our future Twin Terrors. But we certainly need quality pitching, so we will see how management approaches this off season.

I said Saggese was a RH Donovan as in versatility, smaller stature but with a little pop, speed not really part of their game, but not slow. But Donovan is much better with stike zine recognition and bat to ball still. Saggese, obviously can keep getting better in those areas, but Saggese has an EXTREMELY quick bat and generates pop from that. But he’s going to have more K in his game than Donovan for sure. Can he be a serviceable utility guy? I 100% think so. I’d like to see him get more time ar SS and start to get a little OF time too.
