I am of a similar thought as 1TD on this – Edmonds said what we have all said for awhile. Nothing new. Our club is in an “organizational slump”, with the only question being how many years will it take to get back to being competitive.
All these years of short-term planning, trying to win “this year” and not worrying about the future has resulted in a lack of talent now that the “future” is today.
Edmonds was an unpolished, rough cut kind of guy in the booth, but he was by far my favorite of the lot, providing the kind of knowledgeable commentary I like as opposed to the non-stop gas-bagging of the other so-called color men. Too bad he didn’t do a thoughtful written piece, perhaps with a little editorial help. Nonetheless he seemed to be talking true.
Yes. You seem unaware of Edmonds behavior. I’m not going to post one of the many links. In my world that behavior is not ok. Just because he was a great baseball player, doesn’t excuse it. He’s a creep.
Personally i think edmonds knows more about baseball than the whole lot of cardinal management. He def would have been a great asset but this ownership and management only want yes men and edmonds isnt that.
The more I think about it they know this year is going to be horrendous …like 20 games or more under 500 so let Mozelak/dewitt/marmol take the hit this year instead of Bloom
If they don’t know the year is going to be awful then they are just delusional.
