I’ve read the highlights and I am not concerned about it. It sounded to me like some of his comments would have been more of an attitude towards Edmonds and not vets in general. Edmonds comes across as a very pushy, know it all type sometimes and I can see why the org doesn’t want him around always as his guidance may go completely opposite of what the player is working toward. Edmonds was obviously a great player and one of my favorites to watch, but there is a huge difference between being a good player and good coach/mentor as you have to realize every player is different and doesn’t have the same talents.
I didnt hear the interviews but i read the jist. I totally agree with jimmy ballgame. This organization has lost its way. Sad to see him go but being a dad is the best gig you can get. Being a pappy isnt bad either.
I’ll side with Edmonds on this one. He sure ripped the organization a new a-hole and it sounds like they deserve it
Many of us here have known something is wrong but we’re not insiders. He is and he’s got enough money that he can tell them to Johnny Paycheck their job

That’s why I’ve been so upset they left Mo in place to let it rot for another year.
I think they did need somebody who they can’t brush off as not on the inside or not a player or not ‘whatever’ to blow their asses up.
The organization cannot simply say he doesn’t know what he’s talking about like they can if any one of us said it or even a journalist.
They ignore / not comment on Edmonds’ statement but they can’t really refute it.
They need to honor legacy (as in the Cardinal Way), and get back to it. Honor it while at the same time they’re employing modern technology and up to date teaching techniques.
But if the organization is becoming more “corporate”, where guys are tense, running scared, and not playing loose and having fun, there’s a serious problem.No respect here for Edmonds. But that’s not saying there isn’t an issue, because there is. We have to finish the house cleaning. Until than the culture can’t be repaired.
Maybe Edmonds was pointing out from the booth what the hitting coach was missing and it was embarrassing to the front office.
Maybe Edmonds was so close to the inner sanctum that being nudged didn’t sit well. But his perspective could be dead on. He feels it in his heart and soul, and others are likely feeling the same uneasiness. If that aura has permeated into all areas of the organization its reason to believe that it is coming from the top. That’s what defines “culture”. This can’t be repaired in short order and I think that most of you by now have resigned yourself to this.
You’ll have to dig down deep to remain a die-hard…. probably deeper than you’ve ever had to dig. I would imagine that people outside this organization…. including casual fans are saying “wow, what has happened to the Cardinals in such a short period of time?” I wonder who the FO is using for damage control? All of this matter is making me sick!
BDW, Jr. has always had a passion for the team and been a fan since he was a kid. BDW III is at the opposite end of the spectrum.
I call bs on Edmonds. He was on his way out and quit before he got fired. He’s not wrong about the culture, but he’s piling on. No respect. Classless guy. Good riddance. And Bc do you really think their coaches hadn’t been telling players they were stepping in the bucket? Come on.
There are a lot of things Edmonds said that made sense regarding hitting, KCB. And if the coaches were telling the players to do it, why weren’t they doing it?
That’s the million dollar? But he didn’t really say a lot of things. He said one basic thing that you and I and my grandaughter can identify. But they still step in the bucket.
Edmonds has said a lot more technical things than just stepping in the bucket. His observations have been both about hitting and playing centerfield.
I think trashing the organization going out the door is not a good look but I did appreciate some of Edmond’s candor during the actual games and he would sometimes point out things that other analysts could not.
Brad Thompson may be a nice guy but he just plays the role of the robotic cheerleader. I learn absolutely nothing from him that I didn’t already know.

Maybe Brad will go too. I can’t take him very much. I’m all for moving Mark Sweeney from the studio to the ballpark. He made in MLB debut with the Cardinals (I was at the game) and played for many teams and did announcing for San Diego I know. I liked him in the pre-game and post game stuff on the rare occasion I watched it. Or maybe I was just comparing him to Brad and Al who I don’t like to listen to. I don’t know what Tom Pagnozzi says because, I don’t watch very often and hes not on there a lot, but when he was I just stared at how HUGE his hands are and never heard a word he said.

No he shouldn’t. He’s a creep and shouldn’t have had a job with them in the first place.
Some may recall that Brad Thompson was once TLR’s go to pitcher when the HOF manager felt it neccessary to send a message back to the opposition in the form of a retaliatory purpose pitch. The baby faced Thompson was called upon numerous times to plunk an opposing hitter as retribution for a Redbird hitter being hit by a pitch that TLR deemed to be of a questionable or suspicious nature. I recall one particular instance in which Albert Pujols was victimized by a HBP and as retaliation Thompson, who looked as though he were about 14 years old at the time, was instructed from the top step to nail Met’s star David Wright. I also remember that some suspensions were mandated as a result of the salvos tossed at hitters during that game. LaRussa never seemed to mind too much if Thompson were suspended for 2 or 3 games. I’m guessing he determined that the loss of Thompson’s minimal talents for a couple of games wouldn’t deplete the BP to a degree that would hurt the team too much…Fun times on the baseball diamond between the big kids at the ballpark…
