I just dont understand why the organization is so set on staying at 168 mil for payroll… bump that number up to 175 or 180 mil… trade Dejong and bring in Story…. i know people are up and down with a Story signing but a lot were on Arenado too… can he hit outside of coors.. he had a bad year blah blah blah… Itd be a lot better for ticket and merchandise sales.. more likely to keep Arenado here and lets face it.. Goldy has limited time left and its Molina and Wainos last year most likely.. we should be at least trying to compete right now instead of just staying relevant. Especially while Carlson and Oneil are still cheap. I dont expect or even want anything like the Dodgers payroll but they are 100 mil above us and our payroll should be increasing annually anyway. I just feel this is a year we should be really trying to compete. Dickerson signing really didnt impress me much. Id rather have spent it on Story and planned to see Gorman come up halfway into the season. Obviously there is more involved than what i know but i think Story will pay for himself.

Maybe Dickerson is a bit below average defensively in the OF so let’s get him a 1st baseman’s glove. He could find some more ABs spelling Goldschmidt as a lefty bat and it would add to the depth chart. I’m guessing there will be another move to get a starting pitcher. That should be decided as Spring training moves on. Without Flaherty we just don’t have a #1 guy.

Ah, found the original signing. It was 2 years for 5mil total but baseball reference only lists the 1 year on salaries. I assume they ended up paying the full 5mil for his 3 month stay
