cardsfan64ParticipantI realized the earlier post did not mention what he was going to be doing for the Cards. Here is that post.
Anuk Karunaratne is leaving the Blue Jays to join the Cardinals as senior VP, business operations.
He and Marnie Starkman both served as executive VP, business ops with the Jays. Starkman will now oversee all of the team's business dealings.

January 31, 2024 at 11:08 am #242274The two ways to improve the bottom line are to cut expenses or grow revenue. It appears the new addition will work on the latter. Nothing wrong with that as long as prices to the customer are not increased.
January 31, 2024 at 11:29 am #242276BTW, Dan Farrell, Cardinals Senior Vice President for Sales and Marketing, retired at the end of last season.
And it does not seem that Bloom and the new man have a history. They are on opposite sides of the team operation. Business Ops vs. Baseball Ops.

His whole reason for existing is to squeeze more money out of the customers.
January 31, 2024 at 6:25 pm #242289Interesting last sentence in the team’s press release.
The Cardinals worked with top search firm TurnkeyZRG to conduct a national search process, which included a highly qualified and diverse pool of candidates.

February 14, 2024 at 5:49 pm #242718Spring training is a great gig if you are an exec. Get to stand around and chit-chat, enjoy the weather, stay in a first class hotel, and expense it all on the company’s dime.
After I got my bachelor’s in business I tried to hustle my way on to a job with a big league club. I had worked in the athletic business office in college and was hoping that and the degree could land me with a team. Alas the closest I got was selling tickets at Jack Murphy stadium for the Padres. It wasn’t long until I needed to actually make enough money to stay just above the poverty line, and forget about trying to work for a sports organization.
