Just heard, DC has a sprained shoulder and will join Edman & Noot on the IL.
Scott being brought up.
Let the fun begin!
March 26, 2024 at 12:55 pm #245001Things will be moving fast .
I hope we can catch up with all the stolen bases
March 26, 2024 at 12:56 pm #245002What do folks think the 40-man roster move will be? A 60-day IL move or a DFA or ???
March 26, 2024 at 12:58 pm #245003He’s got to play nearly everyday? Right?
I mean, who wants to see Siani in CF? And Cards can’t put Scott on the end of the bench, can they?
Should be fun.
March 26, 2024 at 1:02 pm #245005Or . . . Scott is here for one day until Mo dredges up another gold nugget from the slag pile.
March 26, 2024 at 1:09 pm #245007Honestly, bling, what do you think the chances of that are?
March 26, 2024 at 1:12 pm #245008Scott needs to play so, for as long as he’s here, he needs to start imo.
But good grief at all the injuries before we can even get up opening day….
March 26, 2024 at 1:15 pm #245009Not real good Brian. But if it is thought Carlson will be back in two weeks, Mo might recognize that altering Scott’s service timeline might be a shortsighted move. Obviously, the org would have an idea about the extent of the injury.
March 26, 2024 at 1:20 pm #245011#STLCards manager Oliver Marmol on rookie Victor Scott II: “He’s our starting center fielder. … He’s here to play.”
Scott, who arrived in Arizona this morning, will play CF at some point today vs. the #Cubs. He’ll make his MLB debut vs. the #Dodgers Thursday at Dodger Stadium.

March 26, 2024 at 1:32 pm #245013I’m excited for Scott, but I’m sure this is devastating for Carlson. Kid was going to get another chance and now that opportunity is gone.
Kinda cruel. Let’s hope Scott is the next Willie McGee or Curt Flood with a splash of Brock/Coleman thrown in!

jj-cf-stlParticipantIf Mo views Scott’s rookie status, as he did Winns, Scott has 45 days up this season. When those service days happen doesn’t matter. Three weeks now and three weeks in Sept still accumulates the same service days total.

I think Scott would only have to spend 16 days in Memphis this year to impact the service time issue. It doesn’t have to be the first 16 days.
March 26, 2024 at 2:41 pm #245020Edman, Carlson and even Noot are potential CF’ers and all three of them are now victims of infirmities. Who steps in when Scott goes down? Let’s face it…Manning up in the OF for the St. Louis, Cardinals is getting to be a little like being ordered into the skirmish line of an infantry squad.
March 26, 2024 at 3:00 pm #245021Brian, to answer your question on the 40 man move, I would think it has to be Rivas or Young who gets booted. The only other play I see is maybe Edman gets put on the 60 day if it looks like it’s going to be close to that before he’s back. I don’t see any other good options besides booting Carpenter out and there’s no way that’s happening. So I’ll go with Rivas.

stlcard25ParticipantHopefully Scott pulls a Michael Harris and makes all the hand wringing a moot point.
I do feel bad for Carlson though, he looked a bit better this spring and he had an opening to make an impact. Hopefully he’s not out super long.
March 26, 2024 at 3:51 pm #245025The Cardinals opening day starting outfield will be among the youngest opening day outfields of all time. Especially if Burleson starts rather than Donovan.
March 26, 2024 at 4:14 pm #245031All jokes aside…If Scott goes down who plays CF?
March 26, 2024 at 4:34 pm #245038Man, tough for Carlson. Hopefully McGee has made it clear on outfield communication and how important that is.
Hate seeing Scott forced like this, but sometimes that ends up being a good thing. Maybe he will show he can compete with the best.
March 26, 2024 at 4:44 pm #245042All jokes aside…If Scott goes down who plays CF?
Siani would be the next man up. After him I really don’t know.
March 26, 2024 at 4:46 pm #2450431982 a young OF by the name of Willie McGee came out of nowhere to make a big impact on the team.
In 1985 Vince Coleman did the same thing.
It is now Victor Scott’s turn.
March 26, 2024 at 4:56 pm #245046McGee stepped in for an injured David Green well into the regular season. I can’t recall who Coleman replaced in LF, but I remember he started the ’85 season in StL.
March 26, 2024 at 5:46 pm #245060Coleman came up in May ‘85 I believe. If I recall correctly I believe Lonnie Smith opened the season as our left fielder, but by the end of the year he was playing against us in the World Series as a Kansas City Royal.
March 26, 2024 at 5:56 pm #245062For some reason I thought Coleman made the ’85 team out of ST’ing, but I looked it up and you’re right, Bikemike.
March 26, 2024 at 6:48 pm #245073They just put Middleton on the 15 day DL. I guess they could move him to the 60 but I heard his throwing program was set to begin very soon.
March 26, 2024 at 7:56 pm #245087Yeah didn’t think Carlson’s injury was major. I like Dylan, but I sure hope that his position in center will not be available when he returns in a couple of weeks. Wishful thinking I know, but who knows, maybe the kid is ready to grab the bull by the horns.
