April 23, 2025 at 6:43 am #280238I read in a Baseball America chat that Geoff Pontes has info saying Wetherholt will be back in the lineup sometime this week. Hoping to see it any day now to verify he is healthy.
April 23, 2025 at 8:01 am #280240Albert – I heard something about stomach cramps or illness of some sort.
April 24, 2025 at 7:09 am #280330The #STLCards system was 1-2 on Wednesday. TCN’s Player of the Day, 3B Dakota Harris, was 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored in Springfield’s 10-inning loss. April 24, 2025 at 9:51 pm #280359That must be one heck of stomach cramp if Wetherholt still didn’t play today. I half expect the Cards to announce he is on the 60 day IL with something like a torn abdominal muscle.
April 25, 2025 at 5:29 am #280365The #STLCards system was 3-1 on Thursday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield’s Tekoah Roby, dominated over five scoreless IP and struck out two for his first win of the season. Other standouts include Andy Yerzy, Tanner Jacobson and Deniel Ortiz.… pic.twitter.com/PbbMVgqz7C

April 25, 2025 at 6:19 am #280368I’m curious too Albert. It’s now been a few days.
A few interesting players rising up the ranks (while others are tumbling quickly). Jeremy Rivas is actually hitting and doing so with some power. He could finally help the team move on from Fermin. Josh Kross is hitting a ton. He may be getting a promotion soon. Jon Jon Gazdar is starting to make a name for himself. Little known Deniel Ortiz is also opening some eyes. I’m highly interested in this guy as I think he came out of community college and then he was the only position player drafted the Cardinals didn’t play last year. Brandt Thompson is another to watch now that was picked late in ‘24 and is having good results. Travis Honeyman also hitting a ton, but I think he’s older than Walker and in Low A due to injuries so don’t get too excited yet.
Chase Davis, Wetherholt, Bernal, Crooks, McGreevey, and Roby are also all performing well. Most of our other prospects are either injured or playing poorly. That’s not quite an all-encompassing statement, but mostly true.
April 25, 2025 at 9:42 pm #280444Barrero has been on fire lately. He just hit a 3-run homer in the final inning to give the Redbirds a 2-run lead.
April 26, 2025 at 7:56 am #280455The #stlcards system was 3-2 on Friday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach CF Yordalin Pena, was 3-for-6 with four RBI and three runs scored. Other standouts include Gordon Graceffo, Jose Barrero, Jimmy Crooks, Pete Hansen and Jose Suarez. https://t.co/BPGrvsi7D1 pic.twitter.com/nIiNFOiudt

April 26, 2025 at 2:57 pm #280477Any scouting on Gastelulem? He has like 115 strikeouts in 85 innings. He is at AA, and we can always use relievers with high K rates.
April 26, 2025 at 5:38 pm #280496His changeup is incredibly good. Like off the charts good. His fastball is average but plays up because of the changeup. That’s pretty much it.
April 26, 2025 at 8:41 pm #280507Thanks Jnevel!!
April 27, 2025 at 7:30 am #280514The #STLCards system was 3-1 on Saturday. TCN’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach’s Brandt Thompson, continued his impressive professional debut season with five Ks in 4 ⅓ shutout innings. Other standouts include Anyelo Encarnacion, Hancel Rincon, Mike Antico and Osvaldo Berrios.… pic.twitter.com/5hfU5VmoZx

April 27, 2025 at 8:05 am #280515Looks like Travis Honeyman is still injured. Hasn’t played more than two games in a row all season, hasn’t played since Wednesday.
April 27, 2025 at 8:24 am #280517I wouldn’t worry much about the more than 2 games in a row thing. That’s pretty standard for Low A when they have 30 rostered players. Even the prioritized guys all sit out at least once a week if not twice. But yeah, I noticed he hadn’t played for a few games. I guess it’s now 3 in a row. That is not business as usual. He must be sick or hurt again.
I guess PB only has 13 position players on their roster (as of today anyway) so you’d expect their guys to all get about 5 starts a week. They do have a lot of OFers though.
And speaking of injuries, Tyler O’Neil is back on the IL.
April 27, 2025 at 1:18 pm #280523Wetherholt back in action today. Honeyman as well.
April 28, 2025 at 7:07 am #280554The #STLCards system was 1-3 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield SS Jeremy Rivas, was 3-for-5, including a double, a HR, three runs scored and four RBI. Other standouts: Miguel Ugueto, Leonel Sequera, Darlin Saladin and Ramon Mendoza.… pic.twitter.com/lJhgHYecmW
