It looks like Honeyman is ready to squeeze his way into the Springfield OF.

I just noticed lefty Yadiel Batista in the FCL. He has a 3 era, and solid numbers. Right now he’d be in my top 50, maybe top 40. I’d like to see him pitch if the FCL games are streamed.

Thanks for sharing 25. Really exciting to see Wetherholt. He is an all around great player and has a winner’s mentality. I expect him to be the starting 2B or 3B on Opening Day next year. Need to clear a log jam above him, but I think he easily gets priority over many of those guys if he shows he is ready.

Wetherholt opens the Memphis offense in the first with his 3rd AAA homer.

Two outs later Baker hits his 9,684th Memphis homer. He looks over at JJ and points to himself and says “Me Big. You Little. No catch The Bak-A”.

Wetherholt homers in his next at bat as well. Baker unable to answer him this time around. We could have used this kind of offense today in Colorado.

Boy Wetherholt is on fire. He would probably be one of the 4 best hitters on the team already. 2 HRs and then his groundout was actually his hardest hit ball at 106.7 MPH

Austin Love has had an interesting stat line. He has a pretty good WHIP of 1.13, but the distribution is interesting on the source. Typically it is much, much more hits based, but Love has only allowed 16 hits while he has walked 21 and plunked 3 in 32.2 innings. Batters are hitting a measly .139 against him.

I would expect though as Love pitches more his command gets better after basically 2 years injured. Before the injury it was more towards slightly below average to average potential range. Better command as well means he would actually see his K% go up. He may have some shot to run with a setup role in the future if he does improve the command.

Who are you clearing out to make room for him.

I thought we were all scared to fast track prospects based on a couple players. Will that leave when Bloom takes it all over?

For the 1st question, who is blocking him and the team is sure would play better? Donovan, Winn, Contreras, Herrera. Those 5 plus Wetherholt and Scott should have a spot for sure. Anyone else Wetherholt most likely would play better than and deserves the spot over them. Even Noot who I really like isn’t performing well enough to have his name penciled into the lineup next year. I would be looking at Donovan as the everyday LFer with Wetherholt at 2B if they can’t trade Arenaso. If they can, then Wetherhokt at 3B.

I’m not sure how this would be fast tracking him. He has been progressing very well and 2026 would give him a half year to develop at AAA and prove himself. Wetherholt was an advanced college player who scouts all said didn’t need as much seasoning as other draftees. If he is ready he is ready. No point is saying it has to be X amount of time before you call him up.

I hope Wetherholt gets a chance to actually play at third base before he gets stuck there in the majors! 😉

Ha well I would hope the same. I know they have been playing him at 2B in addition to 3B, but I would try and get him in at least a few games at 3B.

Koperniak is too good a hitter to have the stats he’s put up so far this year. Either he had some sort of nagging injury, or was working on something. Either way, it’s nice to see him maybe turning the corner on his year.

I think Curtis Taylor should get a spot start. His transition from reliever to starter is very unusual. I know he’s 30, but has put up solid numbers at Memphis. I thought he was just holding a spot for Hence or Henderson. He has been much more.

Great start tonight by Rincon. I really think he can stick as a starter. Maybe a number 3?

I’m at the Memphis games for tonight and tomorrow afternoon. Tonight I get both Matthews and Wetherholt. Quinn struggling to find the zone in the first.

Quinn looking much smoother in the 2nd and 3rd. He was all over the place with his mechanics in the first. I write that and the results are starting to fall apart here in the 3rd.

Torres botched a double play but recovered to get one. That allowed a run to later score.

Crooks moves really well blocking the ball. I’ve been impressed now that I’m up close watching.

Not much Memphis offense tonight though 7. Maybe it has to do with their Oat Milkers jerseys?

They should just shut Quinn down for the year. Something has to be wrong with him to have such bad command.

Crooks is an outstanding defender and would be a gold glove contender. Fangraphs describes him as a “flesh wall” back there.

The funny thing is I was wrong earlier and Yerzy is catching and Crooks is the DH tonight so I guess I completely missed that! Anyway, Yerzy looked good blocking balls tonight!

I did get to see a JJ double and a trio of hits by Prieto. Plus a Crooks double. But we’re down 1 in the 9th right now.
