I made the point it was a small sample size, albertthemachine, but i always believe in looking at positives rather than negatives.

It is silly to draw any conclusions about six games by anyone anywhere.

    Ok. Soapbox time.

Michael Siani will rejoin the team tomorrow. Marmol has already said Siani will play every day. That means Scott will not be starting daily (unless he starts over Noot because they’ve already committed to Walker starting every day).

I’m not happy about this unless Scott goes back to Memphis to play every day. Scott has far greater potential than Siani as a hitter. I like Siani. Remember back before the season started when I posted maybe 6-10 times how Siani should make the roster (and most people thought that was silly). Siani is an elite defender as we’ve seen. And he’s fast on the base paths and a good bunter when it’s needed. That makes him a wonderful guy to have on the bench as a late game replacement or emergency sub. But he is never going to be a good hitter. He’s never been a good hitter. He’s playable because of his defense. Victor Scott has the chance to be both a good hitter and great defender. He needs to play every day. I’m ok if that’s still at Memphis. But if he’s in St. Louis sitting on the bench the next couple days, I’m going to be extremely disappointed. Now is the time to prepare for 2025.

If it were my choice, I’d send Scott and Leahy to Memphis tomorrow and call up McGreevey and Saggese. Saggese has to be added to the 40-man anyway, he’s playing well right now, and he could use a cup of coffee at the big league level. Donovan can DH against right handers while Saggese plays 2B. McGreevey can start a couple games with a 6-man rotation.

They might as well play Walker, Scott and Siani.

Are Matz and Siani eligible for post season?

They should be. I think that rule only applies to guys acquired from free agency or other teams.

    Besides, the 2025 postseason is a long ways out . . .

jnevel: I’m sorry to learn that Siani “is never going to be a good hitter.”

I like bling’s idea of Scott, Siani, and Walker. Now that is an OF that Whitey Herzog would be proud of.

Besides I have never boarded the Noot hype train. He is an over rated player IMO. He is basically one more injury away from being Dylan Carlson 2.0.
