The #stlcards system went 2-4 on Saturday. TCN’s Player of the Day, Palm Beach starter Chen-Wei Lin, allowed one run in five IP on three hits and no walks with seven Ks. Other standouts: Nick Dunn, Graysen Tarlow, Kade Kretzschmar, Benjamin Arias and Ronny Oliver.… pic.twitter.com/WYrQggagDX

stlcard25ParticipantFor some reason, I thought that Lin was a lefty, so that photo of him made me wonder. Turns out that he’s a righty after all…Waino-esque on the mound. I wonder what sort of nickname he’ll get if he makes it all the way to the bigs?
June 30, 2024 at 9:28 am #258332Stature wise he is like Waino, but Lin is a gas thrower and throws 99+ consistently. The crazy thing is Lin has a lot of growth left weight wise and will only get stronger. Hopefully with that big of a frame he will be able to hold up the velocity and his UCL while being a bit of a work horse.
June 30, 2024 at 9:30 am #258333I have a category I put prospects in once they have established a lengthy developmental progress trend line that I consider horizontal, with no upward slope. Maybe a few minor blips, but horizontal. The poster boy I have in that bucket is Joshua Baez and I am thinking Mautz needs to be dropped in beside him. I really hate the idea of two post 2020 second rounders in the flat line bucket.
June 30, 2024 at 9:32 am #258334It’s not terribly catchy, but how about “Win-Lin”, stlcard25? The average male height in Taiwan is right about 5.8 and Chen-Wei stands nearly a foot above that. Didn’t the Marlins once have a pitcher with the same name…..or maybe it was Chen-Wei Zin….or Chen-Wei-Yin…something like that.
June 30, 2024 at 3:21 pm #258406Chase Davis put a good end to the month with a 2-3 day with a HR and walk. That put his final month of June stats at .333/.464/.683. Even with such a great month, his overall stats are average just due to how bad April and May were. I would expect them to promote him to Peoria soon. From his age and experience, he honestly should have already been in A+, but the performance previously certainly did not warrant it.

stlcard25ParticipantMatthews with 5 innings, 1 H, 2 R (0 ER), 3 BB, 3 Ks in his Springfield debut.
June 30, 2024 at 7:58 pm #258465For the record I started much of the Dunn talk but not once did I say he should be handed a starting job.
June 30, 2024 at 8:05 pm #258468CC, who do you think should be the starter at 2B for the second half? Not who will, but who should?
July 1, 2024 at 7:30 am #258486The #stlcards system went 2-2 on Sunday. The Cardinal Nation’s Player of the Day, Springfield C Jimmy Crooks, fell a single short of a cycle, walked, drove in two and scored twice. Other standouts: Gavin Collins, Jared Young, Quinn Mathews, Jacob Buchberger, Hunter Hayes and… pic.twitter.com/JMelTE0JTK

I’ve said this before, but Mautz is going to be a good LH reliever one day. He can throw 97 and has a really good slider. No changeup though and control is spotty. I think they got to keep him in the starter role until he’s not, which is probably AA. He is a year younger than his draftmates too.
