Oh, okay…I saw the ads on some of the broadcasts, but didn’t catch the the date of the game. I just know Rats really likes ol’ Dusty…Haha! At any rate, I’ll watch the game and just hope I don’t get too proud for my own good…Haha!

My main complaint is that if you are going to make me pay to watch the games then at least keep them all in one place (the ones not on ‘free’ tv which really isn’t since you pretty much have to have cable / some monthly sub for that as well) and don’t make me pay for cable sub, pay for Extra Innings, and then pay for Apple TV for a handful on top of all that.

This is one of the tweets from last evening after the news of the Berrera DFA broke. This from the Bellevlle News-Democrat guy.

    @jmjones
Piling on the obvious: Rich Hill is starting for Pittsburgh tomorrow. Cardinals don’t have an obvious righty DH option on the roster at this precise moment. Luken looms.

So, I am thinking, if Yepez isn’t a righty DH option, what is he? I mean, he’s not here for his defense.

I guess the answer to my question is he’s a guy who hit .179 with an OPS+ of 59 for May. That presents a situation that is funny in a way, but also illustrates the roster management buffoonery inflicted upon us. Yepez does indeed have no utility as a hitter presently. I mean 59 !!!, yikes, that is horrible. So he is here, occupying one of the 26 roster spots, because we have 3 outfielders on the IL, and he can fill in out there if needed. So Juan Yepez is here because we need his glove. Hahaha. Nice one Mo.

Edman vs lhp at leadoff ✅
    .402 obp batting second ✅
Gorman 3rd vs a lefty? That’s challenging him. Curious to see how that turns out.
    Arenado at cleanup✅
Yepez wearing a blindfold in RF♿
PDJ at SS trending down hard
    Baker, congrats
Walker in a tough, TOUGH, LF park.
Kiz will be the hero ✅

Small sample size, but he does have a 1.007 OPS vs LHP. And who else you putting in there?

I like Walker in LF. I think that’s where he needs to stay. Carlson in CF and Nootbaar in RF when healthy.

Man, that outfield defense is scary. Not a true MLB outfielder in the bunch. Quite a drop off from a couple of years ago when we had O’Neill, Bader and Carlson chasing down long drives. Hopefully we pile up a bunch of runs.

Baker might be an Aaron Judge type guy. Maybe he will come up and keep bashing and everyone will be like, “Where did this guy come from?”

Edman leads it off with a double, and Goldschmidt demonstrates why he has so few RBIs this year by failing to drive him in. But he will get a hit next time with the bases empty.

Babe Ruth Gorman whiffs and Arenado can’t get it out of the infield, so the leadoff double is wasted. They will all get hits later when it doesn’t help.

To be clear on this, what Goldschmidt had to do was advance the runner to third. Somehow, someway, so he would be there at third with less than two outs. Fly ball, grounder behind the runner, bunt, whatever. Then Gorman needs a fly ball to drive him in. That is how baseball works. Someone should tell them.

    Luken Baker is the DH.

Yep. After we squander our chance, they come back with some classic small ball and take the lead. At least one team knows what they are doing out there. Its early, maybe we will come back.

If anyone is tuned in, how is Albert doing in the booth?

    Not an auspicious start.

OK, here in the second a leadoff walk wasted. Nice. Congrats to Baker on his first MLB hit. Walker has done nothing but hit grounders since he came back. Great job by the polo shirts fixing his launch angle. He had a GIDP yesteday and a rally killing fielders choice just now. DeJong did nothing as usual. Kniz failed, but, he does what he is capable of. Always a good effort.

After homering yesterday, Contreras sits today vs the lefty. I wonder if they think he is platoon player now. The next episode of catchergate. His BA vs LHP is .200. But vs RHP its only .219, so what difference does it make. His OPS+ is actually slightly less appalling vs lefties, 86 and 83 vs righties. Maybe he needed rest after hoofing it around the bases.

More traffic in the bottom of the second, but no harm done, other than to Miles’s pitch count which is 38 after 2.

Here in the third we are gifted a leadoff walk, which Goldy promptly wastes by hitting into a fielders choice. Too bad he never has runners on ahead of him anymore, ahem. Babe Ruth whiffs. Again.

Well, the dog needs to go out, thank god. I will check back when I get back from a walk.

I happened to notice that Lukenbaker’s from Texas. I wonder if they named him after the town in the song?

Perhaps nobody told these guys they are supposed to knock some of these baserunners in.

Pirates with 7 hits in 3 innings. All singles, but that’s a lot of base hits.

Well they just added a misplayed double. The look on Mikolas’ face was priceless. This team is a true mess.

I just tuned in. Only two hits off of Hill.

WHY CAN THIS TEAM NOT HIT THE BALL??????

    IS IT THE HITTING COACH?????

We are about to be ten (10) games under .500.

    Unbelievable……..

    Not worth even following today.

I come home to learn that supposedly the game is FREE on Peacock via MLB….
so…. I flip on Peacock on my ROKU device… and what does it say to watch
    the game…. UP MUST UPGRADE!!!!

WAIT WHAT????? MLB say’s it’s a FREE GAME.

As others mentioned at the beginning of this Thread… What are they trying to do…
ruin MLB baseball…. they are on their way.

I see that their 99 year old guy pitched our #1 under the table. We were gifted another leadoff walk in the 4th, which we wasted, and Babe Ruth Gorman struck out yet again. Maybe I will start calling him Mighty Casey Gorman.
